Got my MK 2 delivered yesterday, I'll be setting it up on Monday when I get to my studio thanks for sharing I'll update the firmware on set up first thing 👍 😊

They've also just updated the MkI firmware to v1.1.14 to fix these issues. Dunno, if I should shell out for the MkII, I've heard the filter's improved slightly, but I dunno by how much?

I’m not convinced the upgrade would be worth it - unless you are selling the MK1 to cover most of the upgrade cost. You’d probably be better off getting another synth and having a wider sonic palette. The K-2 MK2 is a cracking box for the money. As is the Edge.

Yeah, it's that very specific Roland single oscillator sound I'm after. I'll likely just sell some household bits-n'-bobs on Gumtree and buy a Michigan Synth Works MSW-810 instead. I regrettably sold my original SH-101 about 8 years ago, no big deal it was kinda falling to bits and covered in cig burn, lol.

The MSW-810 wasn’t a synth I was aware of, but looks like it would be a good companion to the MS-1.

it does seem strange Behringer don't allow 100 steps or even 128 steps. that was the main trick the Roland 101 had.

Its also missing the bottom end growl that the original sh one had.

If you care to enlighten a newb, why would one want 100 steps? Wouldn't that make for an extremely long sequence?

How does one install a firmware update like this? I suppose it's a chipboard that one manually installs? Will the MK2 come equipped with the new firmware if I order one now? I realise these are noob questions and most people may take the answers for granted.

It’s just a software update over USB. Takes about 5 mins and during this time the synth needs to be plugged into a computer.

@@3dims Okay, cool, thanks very much. I was wondering if it might be that easy, but "firmware" sounds a lot like hardware to me, and after all it's an analogue synth! Strange what's possible these days, hahah. Anyway, cheers again.

Does the arpegiator transpose immediately when changing the transpose L/M/H, or do you still have to retrigger the keys for it to do this like on the original SH101. To insert a glide step in the sequencer you had to turn the glide potmeter, now you should be able to press the HOLD button while holding the notes you input. Much faster than turning the glide pot up and down.

Thanks for the pointer on sequencing the glide. Will have a look at the transpose and let you know - but may be a short while as I’m away for a bit.

Yes. Transpose L/M/H works on the active arp pattern. Turning glide also still adds a glide in the note as well as pressing a key and pressing HOLD at the same time. If you play a note and hold the L/M\H transposes and glide as works when in the ON mode like the original.
