Behringer Powerplay In Ear monitors Connection (Go see 2020 update!)

So this is how I set up my in ears. I used the Insert I/O ports in the back of my Yamaha Mixer and used a 1/4 in TS to 1/4 in TRS adapter by Hosa. Then I got a 16 channel TRS snake to connect to the back of the Behringer Powerplay 16-I. From there it’s easy just a Cat 6 cable to either the distribution box or straight into the personal mixer.

Are all 16 channels preset to the cables that are plugged in? For example if the vocals are plugged into the powerplay channels 1-4 will the channels on the p-16m be for the same? I am the drummer for our church and we have no experience with IEMs. It would really help out since we can't find many videos that help with analog mixers to IEMs Also how does the p-16m connect to the powerplay? Is it through an ethernet cable?

Yea I couldn’t find any videos so I understand lol answer the first question, yes they are the same. So you can arrange how you want the channels to be for the power play. For example I have channels 1-5 for each drum mic, then 6-9 for instruments, 10-14 for vocals, and 15-16 for tracks and clicks. Even though on my main mixer my vocals are channels 1-4, I plugged in those channels to 10-14 on the p16i which then goes to the P16M. Also yes it is a Cat6 Ethernet cable (I used a 100ft) from the p16i to the p16M. Then just daisy chain each p16m to each other. I’ll try to make another video explaining how I have them all connected.

@@ourvoice7 thanks this helped us get a better idea of how to set up IEMs we hope to get the p-16m soon. Do you run the 100ft ethernet cable all the way directly from the P-16i to the p-16m? And if so is there any delay or down side from that?

Paul Lee yup all the way down. We have no latency or delays. I’ve read 100ft is the longest length to run the Ethernet without any delays. If you run longer I believe Behringer sells like a distribution module so you can extend it.

How do you have the instruments connected . Are you running a snake via XLR per channel to each instrument feeding to DI box to get a TRS guitar line , then on the same IO insert you are doing to Ts adaptor to TRS into the P16I powerplay which then sends the Ethernet cable to the P16 in ear mixer

jesus sanchez that’s pretty much it. Instrument feeding into a snake, which goes into the mixer, then Ts trs adaptor out the IO insert. That to the P16I, then Ethernet to the in ears.

Is the male part of the adapter ts or trs?

The male is trs, cause that’s what the I/O port needs to compete the signal

I’m not at my church, but if I remember correctly the trs goes into the mixer I/O and the ts goes into the behringed box. So each channel that I wanted on the personal mixer had its own cable.
