Guys I've discovered something that blew my socks off. The RD9 accepts midi CC. I found this out completely by accident but CC75 affects the RD9 hi hats pitch. Let me know if it works for you guys and if you find out any other CCs that work. Can't find the midi implementation chart anywhere.

I'm on a mission to get my Yamaha DTX E-set to send individual analog pad signals into my mixer into my DAW. The closest I got to this was via midi but the midi signal is too inconsistent. My question is...will this machine accept the midi input signal from my DTX and separate each signal to then send the analog individual outs?

Having a hard time with a problem on the rd 9 and can’t seem to find this option in the manual. Need super help. I’m using my korg minilouge to play notes and use midi sync in the rd 9 but the notes I’m playing on the rd 9 are playing extra notes on my korg minilouge and I don’t want that. I just want my korg minilouge notes to play on time with the tempo of the rd 9. Not have the rd 9 play notes on my korg

I had the same issue when I first got up and running. It sounds like your RD-9 is sending MIDI on the same channel your Minilogue is recieving MIDI, thus it's triggering notes. Here is a helpful video to show you how to fix the issue: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iX3co5WPd8iAqJY He's demonstrating on an RD-8, but the RD-9 has the same MIDI implementation. The relevant info starts at the four minute mark. Prior to that, he illustrates sync using the analog clock output. Hope this helps -- Jake

Forgive my ignorance. But if I’m not mistaken RD-9 is only mono, but you said that you are sending the outs to a mixer so you can pan them. Are you able to make them stereo when you send individual instruments out of the RD-9?
@sweetwater
@sweetwater Жыл бұрын
Hello, great question! You can pan the individual instruments in stereo if you are sending the individual outputs to different channels on a mixer/interface. Thanks! Jason Filloramo, Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 1281, Jason_Filloramo@sweetwater.com

I remember on another review on the RD-9 I was watching, the guy mentioned that the sequencer step buttons were soft and spongy like, but I’m this video I’m pretty sure I can hear s click when you tap them. So what’s the feel of the step buttons? Are they soft or clicky?
@sweetwater
@sweetwater Жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks for your interest! It had been a while since the last time I had my hands on one of these, so I just swung down to our music store to feel it for myself. I’d say the keys have a somewhat clicky feel. They feel and look a bit like PC keyboard keys from the 90s, in keeping with the retro feel of the instrument itself, if that makes sense. They work quite well for sequencing, but of course they aren’t velocity sensitive and wouldn’t be the best choice for finger-drumming. Hope this helps, and feel free to contact me directly with any further questions! Caleb Lowrey, Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 1620, caleb_lowrey@sweetwater.com

So this might be a dumb question but could this be a substitute for having a real drummer studio wise ? Like can it sound like an actual set ?
@sweetwater
@sweetwater Жыл бұрын
Hello, Kurtsinsane! The RD9 can make a great drum solution for electronic music or other creative genres, but it is no substitute tone-wise for an acoustic drum kit. All the same, it can be a powerful creative tool. I recommend watching a ton of videos on this to get an idea of the sounds it can produce. Thanks for the interest! Got this a few days ago and, although it sounds very very close to the TR-909, I've decided to return it. The buttons feel cheap and are unpleasant, the user interface is cryptic and unfriendly, the knob caps are slippery and too tall (prevents you from seeing the writing), and the external PSU has a very short lead. Also, only a mono output. I'm a Behringer fan and love my VC340 and DeepMind 12, but this was not up to my expectations, I'm sorry to say.

I think the same but i keep it. In 10 years maybe u can sell it expensive, but at least for 350,-. Nobody should forget its a 80s gear with limited functions and sounds. Also the size is very big and takes a lot of space.

Yeah also, if you already have some sort of midi controller and a daw you can use one of approximately 5000 909 Sample packs for the original 909 Sound and program the beat with the midi controller or in the piano Roll itself. I see nostalgia is a huge point here. If you only want to make Music with external Gear: different story.

My Roland 909 is still fun to play with. Then Yamaha came out with their RX series. Then came the KORG Super Percussion units. All happily (???) midi compatible. Behringer should bring out a unit that does what all of these devices did in one unit (please).
