i suck at writing bass lines and i don't want to learn. on a scale from 1 - 10, how much fun am i going to have on this if i just press random and then twist the filter and resonance knobs?

Problem you’ll have is that it generates random notes. That’s no good for bass lines. But if you generate a random pattern, you can manually change note values. So random accents, slides and rhythm, but you’ve got notes in the key of your choice. Endless bass line fun.

@@leftmono1016 thanks but i only understand responses that include a numerical ranking from 1 - 10

@@sam_bibly - if you get the gist of my response, fun factor is an easy 10. If you don’t get it, fun factor = 0. Or, you could look at a TT303 instead. Pick a preset pattern that’s in a key you like, and it will randomise everything except the note values. Fun factor = 20. Easy.

@@leftmono1016 > Problem you’ll have is that it generates random notes. That’s no good for bass lines. But if you generate a random pattern, you can manually change note values. Maybe, I would say that for acid the slides, rhythm and accent of the bass line can much more more important than the notes, especially very raw acid where there maybe isn't' anything but an bass line and a drum machine. A completely out of tune 303 with a pattern that adheres to no scales at all can be very powerful. It all depends on what type of music you want to do...

@@pleggli - you’re right in that the slides and accents are very important, so randomising those is very creative. I’ve never heard random notes sounding good. If you could point me towards any examples?
