The Behringer is astonishing for the price. Currently just under £12. I bought one for plugging into a field recorder. Fethead I always use when using the Procaster in my vo booth though through a Dbx286s and an Audient id22. Totally agree the Behringer is perfect for mobile recording and I like it in the studio too. Look forward to your thoughts on varieties of single coil pickups for Strats! 😂

*I'm surprised. The quality of Behringer itself is astonishing. I think the question to use Fethead or not is really depend on your audio card or a recording device that you use. For example, Shure microphones + Zoom H5, H6 gives you a lot of noise, but when you add Fethead, it's almost gone. To summarize, if a microphone and recording device suite each other well without the noise, then you don't need a FetHead. It's usually used with quiet microphones or if a recording contains a lot of noise. Forget to tell that Fethead makes your audio sound more aggressive. You can hear it in your example. Not all genres of music will accept such aggressiveness.*

Hi Chris, thanks for the comment. I completely agree with your summary. I tried the procaster with the H6 and the Fethead definitely helps with noise. With the XM8500 not significantly different.

Thanks for the video. What do you think about between this 2 option? 1-procaster+fethead+cheap interface(behringer um2) 2-procaster+focusrite solo
@drpolyvios2 жыл бұрын
Hi Yusuf. A very good question and tricky to answer as I haven’t used a UM2. But after listening to audio samples and reviews I would personally opt for the Focusrite solo 3rd gen without fethead. The UM2 has quite an old Xenyx pre-amp which will not be as good as the solo’s. I’ve used the my 2i4 2nd gen and the procaster without the fethead. Yes the gain is set high but I still think the noise floor is acceptable and the audio quality is exceptional. I have also heard that the build quality is pretty bad for the UM2 and has interference at high gain so I’m pretty sure the Scarlett will be a better investment. Do have a look at some reviews of both interfaces on KZbin before making a final decision though!

Dude, you removed the Fethead when you matched the gain of the two. The comparison should be at the same gain so we can see how much louder the Fethead mic is.

I just bought a On-Stage ASWS58-B Foam Ball-Type Mic Windscreen for my Behringer XM8500 and it fits. However, I see that the windscreens you are using are a little bigger. Some people recommend pulling the windscreen away, a little, to allow for a gap between the top of the windscreen and the top of the microphone. Doing that -according to them- helps manage plosives even better. Can you share what windscreens you used in this video?

Hi Sergio, I used generic ones from amazon. Here is the link amzn.eu/d/4zzCuDb. They are a snug fit but pretty good. I have also found that if I don't push them down all the way and leave a gap at the top, the plosive rejection is much better!

I don't think this mic needs a fathead but it does sound amazing
