I like this approach to reading a book, taking yourself to the places they've been must really change how you understand things. Thanks so much for this different outlook :)

The best experience I had in that regard, was when I was reading a book called Exciting Times in Hong Kong, and read about the main characters eating salad from M&S, and realized I had just had salad from M&S at HK botanical garden the day before...I smiled all day because of that:)

Thank you🫶it’s always been my goal to upload once a week, and I have consistently failed at it for the past 4 years. I realized there must be something wrong with my approach. This year I’m giving up on ruling myself with an iron fist, and treating myself with compassion, so that I only post videos from the bottom of my heart. I think that will lead to more videos over all - and hopefully I’ll get to one video a week soon:)

I stumbled across your vlog randomly today and so glad I did. I live in BJ (but originally from overseas). It's so odd to see so many places I go to frequently make an appearance in your video. You really captured it well. You said something about all your friends who previously lived here have all left now, which is so on point. Beijing is such a transient city, and as beautiful as it is, it can feel lonely too. Keep well and hope you come back for a visit some time soon.

hi evelyn!! i’ve always loved watching your videos. back when you were still living in beijing, i would watch your videos to see what life in beijing looked like as i always loved visiting it. i ended up moving to beijing around the same time that you left for guangzhou, and it really feels like a second home to me. now, seeing your video revisiting beijing feels crazy to me because i can recognise the different places you visited, as i have been there myself before since moving here ☺️ i’m happy that you got some closure during this trip, and i wish you all the best in this beautiful year ahead❤

So glad to hear you are interested in Chinese books!! tbh I haven’t read lots of Chinese books lately, and because I’m a native speaker of Chinese, I don’t really notice if a book is “advanced” or not:( a general rule of thumb when I read English books - I find YA books tend to be easier to read. hope this helps!
