May have said it before, but I'm positive the entertainment industry uses the belief that everyone is making bank as a justification for paying peanuts. Like, so and so /is/ an actor, but they get a bad contract since it's "so easy" to make that money back from public appearances or get better gigs. Very disappointed universal basic income wasn't rallied for during the SAG strike. Time is finite, and no one should be spending theirs just to struggle

Even Miley Cyrus, Disney wasnt even paying her what she was owed for a long time (i think up until the last little bit of Hannah Montana). Ik streaming is different, and since most people are watching the old Disney shows on Disney plus, are the people even getting royalties anymore?

While we're talking about former child stars, I'll give you an example: former teen idol Jonathan Brandis was famous in the 90s because of 'Seaquest DSV'. (Haven't really heard of him until 'Aladdin' the series.) But then, after that, all that fame went down the drain. He went two or three years without a job. He was then casted in a war movie, hoping it can revive his acting career, but found all his scenes were cut. Then, in 2003, which was 20 years ago, he took his own life. While I sympathesize with him, and he was bipolar at the time, he could've work for something else. Also, you're right about the KZbin thing. I don't know why I thought I would find fame in making videos.

it's the same with musicians. i knew people who were in popular bands (songs played on the radio etc) but still worked desk jobs etc because entertaiment doesn't really bring steady income. especially if they have kids they need a regular paycheck. spotify type sites dont pay that much, not everyone is able to tour... it's grim. executives line their pockets all while those who actively create are on budget

my first thought is oh why didn't they save, they should have invested, spend responsibly but they were kids whose paycheck was going to their parents or guardians they usually had no say in how their hard-earned money was spent and lets be honest a lot of child stars had really bad parents who blew through their money regardless of what the law says about it people put these child stars on a pedestal and when they fall people want to point and laugh to feel high and mighty

It's really unfortunate that celebrities are kind of pushed into presenting a luxurious image for a few different reasons. One is that it's hard to maintain and they don't necessarily get taught the skills to maintain it if they wanted to. Another is that even if they don't want it, it'll burn through the money they make super fast. The other is that because they're kids and kept in a bubble it might not even occur to them that there are other ways to exist that might be better for them. It also pushes them away from a large sector of their peers in a way because with that luxurious images comes a class disparity that creates a barrier between them and people who don't live that glamorous lifestyle.

When you mention that people stay with one channel, it makes sense. I mean, Disney alone is a huge conglomerate. So if someone isn't on the Disney channel, they might be on abc family, or they might be doing voice acting work. But actors are the same as regular people. Why do so many people stay in jobs that they hate because they can't afford to leave. They can't afford to go anywhere else; they don't have health insurance. They don't have any real savings. They stay because they can't afford to leave. I don't know if this is currently still true, but I think at one point you had to be making a minimum amount of money to qualify for health insurance through one of the unions in Hollywood Also, he said she said still played in my house.

I have to also look at the child stars and their parents, because too much of the time parents are being stupid with the money and then when they finally go they leave their child with nothing and with usually more problems than just money, then you have people not necessarily child stars but older who do make good money, but try so hard yes, to keep up appearances and keep up with the Jonses to live beyond their means while overworking themselves to shid and it is a very messy slope, then you get people that are just dumb with money. It is not always a garuntee of this worldwide success that's gonna last a lifetimes, we literally had a whole strike because writers, animators, actors were not getting paid correctly and deservingly, these studios and big top dawg people be blowing smoke up people a** when they are the ones that are all apart of bringing art to life
