I think the main problem with American comics is the lack of continuity. With manga, you have either one artist/writer working exclusively on a project over the course of years. You can tell how much care they put into the manga. American comics, on the other hand, switch writers like every 12 issues, and the art is not consistent because they constantly change artists. I personally like manga because as the character's grow, so does the artist/writer. They get better at telling their story.
@bobbysmitty1628 Жыл бұрын
I think the downfall of American comics was that it became mainstream. When something becomes mainstream and there is a lot of money involved it typically lessens in quality. Why? There are more hands on the projects who are trying to line their pockets and who aren't always invested in the heart of the industry. You see this in many industries from automobiles to food to music and it may even be creeping into anime now. There have been adaptations that weren't very well received, and it's obvious that those involved were looking to capitalize on its mainstream success without actually being invested. One thing I do think about is if manga/anime will eventually decline in popularity. While manga/anime has been around for about 3-4 decades in America, its mainstream popularity has just now really started taking hold in the past 10 or so years. I'm a 90s kid and I remember how we used to get bullied and teased for liking manga/anime. It wasn't cool as it is today. I like your take on what happened. The Golden Age of Comics was great. Hope they can fix the problem.

I 100% agree. Being a 'good' artist isn't any different from being experienced. The only difference is that you have a solid grasp of the basic fundamentals of art. Everyone's human. Also, good job on reaching 30k. Your videos help me a lot at getting better.

"Don't compare yourself to others, work at your own pace." I've been drawing seriously since 2020 when I decided to be a mangaka, I was rusty at the beginning like hell it was an eye sore. Down these 2 years I've managed to submit my manga, the art is not the greatest but managed to scrap 17th place in manga plus creators for November. Thank you DD Mark Sensei! Best advice ever.

I'm from 3d art industry and looking for upgrading my skills on manga side to I can tell my own stories in a way that I love more. It would be great to share and learn with everyone who is seeking the same path as I do. Promising things always come up in active art groups... Cheers from Brazil ✌

Hello there! Question I have in mind is this? I have a set. I have characters, I have a universe, I make a world off the bat depending on what is actually happen but I struggle to actually making a story and no one appreciating the work because of my age and wanting to make a story such as like “the last of us in a desert and no fungus’s as a comic with violence but less blood and swearing”?

I think western style of comics is not dying. The corporate comics have a downfall but people still enjoy making and reading indie comics in more western styles. And there is also a thing that indie artists seem to mix the two styles, depending on their tastes.

I hate the "jack of all trades master of none" crap too. People always say that but never finish the rest of the quotes. "Jack of all trades, master of none, but it is still better than a master of one" .... in other words, being a jack of all trades is still better than only mastering one thing. If you are going to master something, great, but don't just aim to master one thing.

@JanaeMaiya Жыл бұрын
this was me copying the heck out of kohei horikoshi back in 2020 and sometimes even now. however, over the last two years what i learned on my own to combact this is combine certain elements from other artists to create my own artstyle. for example, i really like the way hori draws hands and his line work, but i also like the way samdoesart paints his pieces. i would take that information and play with it until i got the hang out of it. i hope this helps :)
