In the debut episode and first installment of our series together, join me, Puneet, and my guest Margaret, two dermatology residents, as we dive into the whirlwind of our intern year. We’re pulling back the curtain on what it’s really like to be a new doctor, sharing our personal experiences, and offering advice for those stepping into the world of medicine. Let us know your thoughts down below! ❤

Oh ok.. To enlist as a Marine, you must obtain your high school diploma and be a legal U.S. resident between 17 and 28. Although the maximum age for enlistment is 35, any individual older than 28 is required to request an age waiver. Each branch of the military has age limits to enlist in active duty: Air Force: 17 - 42. Army: 17 - 35. Coast Guard: 17 - 41. Navy: 17 - 41

I loved hearing the take on “if you don’t do it, nobody will” because that applies to so many fields, not just medicine. If you don’t step up to do some of that grunt work it doesn’t fall onto someone else, it falls to no one and ultimately someone innocent is let down. Loved that reminder because even the best of us needed it. Just gentle feedback that I wouldn’t mind these even be longer girl! most of the podcasts I watch or listen to are well above 40 minutes! I could hear the conversation go on and on! ❤much love beautiful

Hi Puneet, I loved this episode so much even as someone who is not in healthcare anymore. I think you both covered so many great points about preparedness and professionalism that are applicable to so many fields. I'd love to hear you guys talk about interpersonal dynamics, managing stress and a work-life balance, as well as interviewing tips in the future! Keep it up :)

Aw thank you so much!! I definitely agree that so much can be applied to all fields!! And we will note those down, thank you for your encouragement :)

I think people lose so much sight of what we actually signed up to do. Whether it’s the hustle and bustle of our personal and social lives or bigger career aspirations, we are there to serve the sick and make them feel like we are advocates for them. I’m glad to see that in the chaos of the learning curve, you and your colleague are able to recognize that is still priority 👏

Puneet, I feel like your opinion “I care more about what the patients think of me than my peers” should be across the board. The patients are the life of our aims and aspirations. They are who we want to see everyday.

Can I ask you an unrelated question What do you think is the best age for a female medical student/doctor to start looking for a husband if nobody asks you out during med school/residency, there probably is no such thing as the perfect time but at the same time maybe past a certain age a lot of good options are taken

Do you have any advice for appearing more confident in front of patients as a new intern? It’s something I just don’t understand how my confidence is going to elevate 🥲
@Maureen-MO3 ай бұрын
I feel like the more prepared you are, the easier things are to flow. Evaluate what they might ask and evaluate what would make you nervous if you don’t know the answer to. Like even write down the WHY you are nervous. Maybe how they look at you, maybe you feel awkward, maybe you don’t feel comfortable in your surroundings … etc.
