I started a new job as a cook in the local restaurant and just last week one of my colleagues told me a story that really reminds me of this. Apparently some time ago they found a single rat in the cellar/storage that ran and hid behind the heavy shelves / fridge where they couldn't reach it. Instead of doing the smart thing and setting a trap one of the previous workers tied a kitchen knife to a broom and stabbed the rat through the stomach. Supposedly he almost bisected the rat and everything spilled out of it so that must have been really ''fun'' to clean. Anyway this video really reminded me of that story.
