Hey everyone! Haven't posted for awhile. One of my best friends - Lauren - and I have been working on a little side project lately, a podcast called Optimism of the Will. Oh, and I'm a socialist btw, I probably haven't mentioned that on this channel yet. Enjoy c:

I'm always happy to see a new TCD upload even if it's a podcast I've already watched.

I’m glad to see you back! 😃 I’m liking the duo discourse with your friend. Totally agree about liberals- especially liberal media. It’s incredibly frustrating hearing them glaze over a lot of key issues. For instance, it’s so off-putting that almost every time the reproductive rights issue comes up, they are stuck in calling it a women’s rights issue. Like, do they realize that they’re calling everyone who can get pregnant a woman? That they’re equating womanhood with having the ability to get pregnant, which does a disservice to everyone who can get pregnant that isn’t a woman as well as women-cis and trans- who can’t. Is it inadvertent or purposeful- and it just drives me nuts. And that’s just *one* example. Luckily there are people out there like you that are having these discussions. You make some very salient points. I hope you get more views and subs so that you reach more people who just really need to hear that they’re not the only ones who have these thoughts and that we might find a better way to speak about these things with liberals in general. Maybe they can come around and realize like-oh wow, I really am missing something in my privileged views about social and economic issues, even if it’s just people we all personally know to begin with. You never know! (Sorry for the text wall, btw😅) -there are just seemingly so few people who get where I’m coming from as a trans guy. You’re a breath of fresh air!

Glad to be back! Lauren is really great, I'm glad I got to introduce her to folks here. And YES THE LANGUAGE WITH PREGNANCY DRIVES ME WILD. Literally the only purpose of using the phrase "pregnant woman" instead of "pregnant person" is to enforce cisnormativity. And thank you for the wall of text, don't apologize for it! I'm glad to hear that my lil bits of content here can be useful for folks, it means a lot. ❤️

I completely agree with this. It's so upsetting that a lot of people dont believe in socialism for the betterment of our society, and there's no one i have to talk about this with because no one really knows what im talking about. I feel like its hard to.enjoy everything in life because of capitalism. I love that you brought up Korra. Perfect example. Left wing Villains really did get treated fucked on this show. We cant have it too left.

I cannot begin to describe the incredibly validating catharsis I felt hearing one other soul who, of all things: reacted to Korra the same way I did. If there is any consolation to the profound loneliness social awareness causes, it is the deep kinship that only comes from your incredibly niche and trivial opinions being shared.

100%. My relationships with socialists have been much deeper, safer, and more inspiring to me than relationships with moderate or apolitical folks. And honestly? I find that leftists place a great deal of value in respecting, understanding, and uplifting others. Progressive liberals can be *fine* to hang out with, but I can't necessarily trust or count on them as a real comrade.

I’m so glad I just got recommended this podcast! Can’t wait to listen to listen to more! Y’all said a few things that really resonated with me. What you guys said about not being able to enjoy media literally voiced thoughts that I have been thinking a lot recently! I was trying to watch Bob’s Burgers the other night, and I literally turned it off because the cognitive dissonance was just too much and I wasn’t enjoying it. My friends think I’m a bit much as well for being a socialist, but I think this’ll change. I’m pretty sure socialism is on the rise, and I’m excited to see it gain more traction as capitalism makes things worse in the world!
