It’s really annoying when a conversation starts actually getting somewhere or someone is making their point and they eventually just cut to the next prompt. They’ve done it much more often recently and then started charging you to go watch their full version. I don’t want to pay for the full version if it’s still gonna be lackluster question topics, people consistently cutting each other off with no moderation and their arguments eventually getting cut off to get to the next topic. I would pay/support if it meant the quality would be better but it’s literally the same video with an extra topic.

Again, this series desperately needs: 1) Live fact checking 2) Better moderation 3) Better preparation from the participants (encourage them to come with stats and articles and numbers) So many of these discussions go off the rails bc people are saying things that either aren't true or aren't on prompt and it's so frustrating.

These days, I would be concerned about the accuracy of the "fact checking", but even if the fact checking was entirely misrepresenting the facts of the topic, it still wouldn't be an imposition on the participant's freedom to say what they wish as long as it allowed them to say what they wish &, I would argue, didn't deceptively edit that. The problem with fact-checking is that for a lot of things in economics, there is a ton of mixed evidence. In an economy, there's a million and one variables, and those are very hard to control for. It would also put a lot of pressure on Jubilee, making them act as an arbiter of truth.

my fiance was born in cuba. I cannot imagine how long this comment would be if i tried to list every single grievance her (large) family has and their struggles with living under the cuban government. We recently met one of her distant cousins who immigrated to the US a few months ago, and he told us that he broke down in tears stepping into a supermarket for the first time. He told us how in cuba you would have to wait in a line to get a single chicken breast and a loaf of bread for the week.

Capitalism is the son of slavery. It’s a very similar exploitative system which exploits the lower class and is in complete control. How do you quantify the value of someone’s work or ability to work? The same system exploited minorities for years after slavery was abolished thru contracts with former slaves. You still have modern day slavery through capitalism via private prisons. Honestly brother molombo probably knew all that. Diversity on a panel is not just skin tones and birth places but also age. While some subjects have focused on conservative parents versus liberal children, for example, other panels like this too easily fall into stereotypes of age with one side obviously middle-aged and the other young adult. Even down to the way they dressed enforces the rise of ageism related to social media and boomer, millenial, gen x, and gen z cultures. I felt this same way about one of the feminist versus anti panels, wondering how the conversation would have changed if an older male feminist shared his experience witnessing the movement in it's prime as someone of the opposite gender.

A lot of people who get upset about Capitalism are younger and haven’t established themselves financially yet. But when they grow older and start having to pay more taxes there is a shift. Especially when they wake up and realize that politicians are spending their money foolishly, and not holding corporations to account because they are allowed to accept money from these entities to get voted into power. Then they turn around and implement more taxation in the form of vehicle registration hikes, gas prices, sales tax, and home value reassessments etc. that rob both the rich and the poor, sometimes equally. Then they moan about businesses price gouging but do little to change it rather than running on change (to make you feel like they realize the problem) then do little to nothing to change it. Sad.

That has historically happened not it's not happening anymore because they are able to become financially independent fast enough.

I wish two things: 1. Clear definitions of both economic systems were established for both sides at the beginning of the video. 2. They chose to argue about current situations in capitalist and communist countries OR about an idyllic version of both systems. Both sides sound petty when they try and one up the other side by calling them out for one of the above.

Communism isn't an economic system; it's a totalizing ideology that demands the economy, and many other things, be centrally administrated in a particular manner.

molubo seems smart & like a charismatic and fun debator, but it was frustrating seeing him tell people to stop interrupting when he did it the most. bunny seems very sweet but like the least knowledgeable - i will argue though that she has an advantage living under both systems though thus being able to compare the two on a personal level. hannah is very eloquent and objective which is great to watch even as someone who is critical of capitalism.

Molumbo is the least intelligent person there, he cannot debate, has no backing for what he believes, everything he claims is capitalism is government intervention which is not capitalism, it’s communist nature

it's funny how people can watch the same thing and have very different perspectives. I thought Molumbo was the least intelligent person on the panel. An example is when they were trying to set definitions of terms they were using and he said it wasn't necessary.

Couldn’t have describe this video better. Though I will say, Molumba was particularly passionate but not realistic. His attitude is definitely not suitable for debates.

Molombo is insufferable, especially when it comes to his interaction with Hannah. Seems he had a bone to pick with her. Besides that blip, I enjoyed hearing both sides of the debate. It made me critically consider both arguments

@@emouraaaa both Hannah and Molombo were obnoxious (Hannah moreso by a small margin IMO, but that’s bc it was pretty clear that she was a media trained crony spouting nonsense talking points while Molombo just seemed to be an average dude with an outsized ego). The debate would have been 100x better and more productive if neither of them were there

@@sarahb.8890are you kidding me? Shes "a media trained monkey" cause she cites facts that other communist countries starved their people and basically ruined everyones lives? Why dont you actually go to cambodia and look at their pol pot museum. Why dont you listen to the stories of chinese people leaving communist china. Why dont you look at the heath of china today? You people in the US are literally so blind to the experiences of actual communism.
