Thanks for sharing this information. I am a 14 y.o Moroccan trans guy in a toxic environment and transphobic/homophobic/abusive family. I hope I can get to Canada when I get older. It's cool to see another North African trans person, thanks for giving me hope😄

Good to hear Canada is more trans friendly than the US, I can definitely agree just because of insurance, treatment and social acceptance in general. There are a LOT of us here in the US that have thought about moving to Canada! :) I live in Northern Minnesota US, and so far I've just gotten by out of sheer dumb luck with my trans stuff, found a surgeon willing to give me a hysto, found a place that did my top surgery, found an endocrinologist that specializes in trans (ALL in Duluth MN) and everyone that knew me before my transition was happy with me, and have been noticing that NOTHING has changed with me, so they are accepting of me except my partner who is cis het, and doesn't like the changes he sees in my body I'm assuming at some point the relationship will turn into just a friendship, but I understand where he's coming from and will never hold that against him. That's my story :)

Thanks for sharing your story! Glad everything went smoothly for the most part, good luck on your transition. Although it must be really tough with your partner, especially being het & i'm assuming you're a transman so that'd mean for him to change the way he identifies & it may make him question things but also makes you uncomfortable if you're being forced into something you're not, i totally understand everyone's side, well do your best on educating him & let's hope it gets better~ sending good vibes!

@@AdamDarkoism Thank you, and yes, that's exactly the issue, he sternly said one day "I'M NOT GAY." I told him I understand that, and if he ever wanted to find someone else, i would understand and not be mad or anything, but he's still sticking around trying to do his best to understand where his lines and my lines will cross and we'll have to make a true decision. I even told him if he ever wanted to get married, in the law's eyes, it would be a gay wedding, and that got his gears going a bit since I paid to have my birth certificate changed along with my name. Thank you and good vibes to you as well! :)

I dont know why "country side" gets such bad rep, of course there is less trans people but its not bad at all. Folks are less used to it, so they might have questions or dont understand fully, but they will respect you. Which is not always the case in Mtl. Maybe that has something to do with the fact that people in small town actually know each other.

@georgewalker73972 жыл бұрын
Its never to late to transition! If your thinking about moving to canada, i would recommend toronto, everyone here is super accepting and its the same with Montreal, (a lot of the small towns also feel pretty safe too). I know other countries are also very good options as well, but i havnt researched it much Best of luck with everything!

How long are the waiting times in Canada Where you from for HRT, GRS?
@AdamDarkoism5 жыл бұрын
It all depends really, but typically around 7 to 8 months (top surgery) or so that's what I heard. I didn't have the typical trans canadian experience because i was on T before coming, so i didn't need a psychologist or anything, my family doctor saw that i'm already transitioning so he prescribed hormones to me from the get-go, which helped me just go the pharmacy & get my T quick
@GiftOfDaGab_915 жыл бұрын
@@AdamDarkoism see thats really awesome, I'm in a similar boat to you, theirs this thing called 'Bridging hormones' im the UK and a Endocrinologist doctor deals with this, it is a alternative more quicker way to get hormones whilst your waiting for your GIC, I'm on the bringing hormones at the moment I've been on T for nearly 4months now I take my shot once a month. I live in Birmingham UK the Endocrinologist doctor I seem to give me the go ahead to take T is based all the way in Harrogate UK wich is a 7hour ride from were I live in Birmingham Most GIC's waiting time in the UK are ranging from 1-2years + 6mnths
@shepd35 жыл бұрын
My experience in Montreal was under 1 month wait for HRT. GRS is absolute minimum 1 year wait to get on the list. Could be a year or two after. Also, hormones are not covered. They are in Quebec because of mandatory insurance that you are forced to buy, but they aren't "free" anymore than getting insurance in the USA makes healthcare there "free". Yes, you have to personally pay for that mandatory insurance. Most people don't see it since the employer does the payment, but not all do.
