Well done for sharing. You are very brave. I can not believe it is 2024 and this is the ONLY video I can find of an autistic parent speaking of how they face day to day. Everything else online is useless, it'S all about children and teens but nothing for adults. I typed in adults who are parents and have autism not children who have it. I then typed in single parents who have autism and once again videos of teens came up. Just goes to show the lack of bother, guidance and support single parents receive. Sad really. Clearly, teens have alot of support out in the world but I can not find anything for adults who are the ones with autism and have children to raise. Anyway, thanks for uploading, I enjoyed watching your video. You are doing great.

Both me and my son are on the spectrum. I came here because I had experienced some ASD discrimination today and though I have developed a thick skin over the years deep down it still guts me every time when we receive the dirty looks and judgmental comments. I also frequently get burn out because it’s just me and him he has no father and i do struggle financially sometimes. I often feel like I’m not doing enough and that is stunting his growth but it’s simply not true it’s just negative self talk. He’s doing amazing and is starting to speak very well because I have him in therapy and in a daycare with other special needs children. I grew up undiagnosed because it was the 90s early 2000s and Im a girl so I went most my life masking without even knowing it and just thinking I was weird and stupid because I had trouble academically and socially but Andre is getting the therapy I never had and growing in a world that is increasingly more developed for ASD. Thank you for posting this video because it often feels like it’s me and him against the world. Anyways I just wanted to thank you for posting this video it brought me much comfort and reminded me that I am a great mother and that we are not alone.

I'm a child of the 70s who knows all too well about the prejudices autistics experience. The only so-called "help" for me was for doctors to prescribe Tegretol when I was a child. In my twenties and thirties I was prescribed antipsychotics (Mellerill, Zyprexa, Solian and Risperdal), which is why I never had children. That was probably the evil doctor's plan all along. I really hope he gets his karma one day soon. All authority figures who have hurt autistics in any way deserve karma.

Just do the best you can. And if you need assistance, don't be afraid to ask for help (Social Services and child services agencies). Be Well.
