Being born and raised in the american south I still see remnants of the past clinging on in certain circles in regards to manners and elegance. I think people are hungry for positivity, elegance, beauty, and politeness in a crass world, so I think this 'trend' will grow and we will see more of a balance again. Of course I would love to see it dominate again but I'm not sure that will happen. As long as we pursue this lifestyle with authenticity and grace, not pretentiousness, it will succeed.

I so hope your prediction does come to be. I was born 65 years ago, in a not perfect, but much more courteous and mannered time. Respect was the principle guide for interaction in society. You didn’t have to always agree, but you were expected to display respect. Respect was evident in the dress code of that era for self and others. Again, the good old days were not perfect, but the stress and anxiety level of current times is much, much higher.

Hi Cheryl. I think the most important value that we’re letting slip away is in fact respect. We’ve become so indulgent in our self-importance that have simply decided to disregard everyone who doesn’t fit perfectly into our expectations. Hopefully there’s a turnaround ahead 🤞🏻

When my son was much younger, he told me that I reminded him of a fifties housewife. How he knew what a 50’s housewife was, I have no idea..LOL! But I took it as a compliment because my mother was a 50’s housewife and she was always elegant in every way! I think of her and the other women and men of that era and I am filled with such nostalgia. She was a great role model and so I always knew exactly what elegance was. Oh, and I have my father to thank for his impeccable style, his kindness to everyone, and the fact that I never heard him say anything “ugly” about anyone. I was one lucky girl!

Jennifer’s channel definitely put the pieces of the puzzle together for me. After watching her channel I decided to become more elegant each day. Sadly I feel like the trend in online but in the real world I still don’t see it much. I am home visiting family right now and I can’t see if happen where I grew up at. It’s sad.

Hi Joy! I get your frustration, and sometimes feel the same way, but just knowing that the population of ladies who want to improve themselves and who value being polite and cultured is growing makes very happy. Maybe the whole world won’t turn elegant, but at least we can rejoice in the fact that we’re not so alone in this journey ☺️

I could not agree with you more!!! The world needs more elegance and etiquette. I am appalled at how people dress when going to concerts or the opera. It's as though that type of activity is no different than going to a street fair or the movies. And tickets are so expensive that I want to make it an all around wonderful experience. (when I lived in Chicago, I would get all dressed up and have to take a bus to get to the opera-and I was perfectly happy be dressed up on the city bus!) Thank you for such a charming video!

I have to agree! Coming from a Jamaican family, they brought with them to America they’re elegance and class and manners and common courtesy. My grandmother and great aunts knew how to host a party and plan a menu and set a table with fine China and linen napkins etc flower arrangements and picture wall arrangement, decorate, charm people during conversation and mail thank you letters with beautiful stationary. I did not appreciate any of this when I was younger I thought it was old fashion and nobody does these things anymore and as I gotten older realizing that the manners I was taught and the art of conversations I was taught has made a big difference in my life and knowing small things like carrying a handkerchief Lol and I’m just getting into my 40’s but yes I agree elegance and class is definitely making a comeback because it’s needed again.

Hi Mariana, I do notice more people on utube....yourself included, who are steering us back to elegance. I am sorry to report back that after walking around nyc yesterday, I didn't see that the message has hit . Hi Rosemarie… so many people are leaving comments like yours. I think there are two things to take into consideration: 1) changing one’s behavior is one of the hardest decisions to make, especially nowadays when our culture tells us that, no matter what we do, we’re perfect 2) it’s much more noticeable when someone is not being elegant than when they are. For some reason bad behavior stands out more, so it might not be that few people are elegant, but that those who aren’t are harder to ignore… here’s hoping my theories are correct 😅

Love your channel. You are so right many people are staring to gravitate towards elegance and more of a simple living and enjoying the small things we over looked before the pandemic. According to the birthday book of astrology I was born in the day of elegance Nov. 21. I don’t really believe in astrology but I have always been drawn to elegance since I was very young and my peers were always into fast fashion and new trends… maybe I just have an old soul 🤷🏻‍♀️. Love all of your looks. Thank you for your videos. We are not along in the elegance journey💕

This trend makes me so happy, may it become the norm again. Courtesy is based on respect and consideration for others and one’s self, how could these have been bad or unnecessary values? I also credit Anna Bey for the elegance trend. Her early videos were very off-putting, concentrating on “getting a rich man”, etc., but later her content began to include female empowerment, self-respect, setting boundaries, and more elegance in dress and behavior. I think it was her emphasis on an elegant appearance that hooked many young female viewers, but that’s ok, they pay attention to the more substantive content, too. My favorite compliment that I get is: you look so elegant!
@MarianaZelenjuk
@MarianaZelenjuk 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Kimberly! I’ve watched a few of Anna’s videos and really like how direct and to the point she is. Her initial content was a little iffy for me, but I also noticed that she’s shifted her focus to more empowering content. It’s not for everyone, but she’s also one of those creators that had a meteoric ascent in the last couple of years, which just proves the point that elegance IS actually trendy 🤩

Yes, to manners, politeness, and kindness. Elegance is about simplicity and how you make others feel. At the risk of being pretentious it would be enjoyable to see people dressing up a little more for out and about occasions. There’s something celebratory about being a little more polished than usual.

I’m up in the mountains in the summer in California. I went to a country restaurant bar last night and everyone was wearing ugly boxy T-shirts and baggy ripped jeans. I always get stared at when I live up here because my wardrobe does not reflect the area. I live in the desert in the winter and have a lot of linen. I only have one flannel shirt and one pair of jeans because I don’t wear that look. I feel so out of place up here sometimes. My husband says just put on a T-shirt and flannels and you’ll be fine. I don’t like that look at all that’s not me.😂😂😂😂
