Thank you so much for sharing all these valuable information Hannah Maria. Congratulations for being a successful Yalie and getting into the top university for political science and history. Awesome you're a Latina. I've learned a lot about yale from videos such as yours. I'm a proud parent of the class of 2024 Yale through questbridge. May God blessed you and keep you safe for 2020-2021.

Been binging your videos, thank you for all this helpful content. I am FGLI too and am applying to transfer from a community college for fall 21. I saw in your description box to comment any prayer requests; could you pls pray for my applications and just for God to place me into the school I’m meant to be at! Thank you again for helping us all and making these videos to bring perspective/resources towards the admission process🤍

I can't tell you what to do but I really really reALLY hope you go. To get into Yale and come from the circumstances that we do ; I'm sure you've worked very hard. And for what? For you to quit right when you're almost there? I'm an international middle class student and Yale seems like a pipe dream. I don't know what your situation is , but I know I need people like you to pave the way for kids like me.I may be a random stranger on the internet, but honestly I felt a pang in my heart reading your comment; not only because I would amputate a limb to be in your place , but also because seeing wasted potential kills a little bit of my soul. Use your fear of not being good enough and coming up short against all the rich privileged kids as a weapon; fuel to come out the other side despite not playing on a level field.This opportunity is once-in-a-lifetime,and could very well change your life.May the odds be ever in your favour.

hey!! watching this does make me happy because otherwise the American university system doesn’t really make sense to me. I am european and the universities all over the continent have such low tution it can’t even be compared to the us. I am from the czech republic and there is two types of unis here - the best ones are publicly funded (and that is where most people attend) and then there’s private unis that are paid (but the tution is again quite low) and their quality isn’t as good. The fact that all major unis are publicly funded is ofc a reason why we have higher taxes, but I overall feel like it is so much more fair for education to be accesible to everyone not based on you socio-enonomic background. You are admitted based on an entrance exam...lol id even know why i am writing all of this probably just wanted to put this out there. Anyways you are one of my fav youtubers&i love your videos, keep it up!

wow that's so interesting!! yea we have standardized tests and then the private schools choose you based on a variety of different factors. the private schools are so expensive, some up to $70,000 a year!! the financial aid usually is very good but a lot of people have to get a lot of scholarships or loans :/

Thank you so much for all the information you shared with us. But I have one tiny question, if my family's income is less than $65,000 I pay nothing at all ? I'm a 2021 senior and I'm really looking forward to apply to Yale. However, I'm really confused about the idea of paying nothing, can you please explain it a bit more? Thank you so much again !
@HannahMariaXX4 жыл бұрын
yea so basically your parents wouldnt have to pay anything but u might have to get a job on campus for the student contribution part but if u get an outside scholarship you can use that for whatever u have to pay
@lunaa79484 жыл бұрын
@@HannahMariaXX ohh, so if you get an outside scholarship, you don’t have to get a job in the school?

thank you for this video! it was very helpful! is the jack kent cooke foundation link in your description the only place where the scholarships you mentioned or other scholarships similar to them can be accessed? i’m a rising high school junior, but i want to get a head start on scholarships, or at least learn more about them before next year. also where are you from, if you don’t mind me asking? i hear an accent in your voice
@HannahMariaXX4 жыл бұрын
you can find a lot of scholarships through google searches (just try to verify with guidance counselors that they are legit) & yes there are soooo many scholarships out there! also i'm from ct but surprisingly a lot of people say i sound southern haha (never been down south)

I'm just passing by but wanted to say something. My ex girlfriend is Puerto Rican & with $0 she was able to go to LaSalle. She was able to get grant money for not being white & being low income & financial aide filled in the rest. I think a lot Of people would think if you're low income, going to Ivy-League school without a scholarship would be living above your means.

Would you say that Yale provides a good amount of resources and support for FGLI students? What have been your experience with that?
@HannahMariaXX3 жыл бұрын
yes!! they have a bunch of dif things and i am just starting to get involved in what they offer ! one cool thing they have this year is a faculty mentorship program w faculty at yale who were also fgli students in uni
@cerysrotondo10523 жыл бұрын
@@HannahMariaXX omg that's really cool, I haven't come across a program like that when researching colleges. It's comforting and encouraging to know that there are professors with our same background willing to help at Yale. I just submitted my application the other day and realized I had grammar errors lol, lets just hope they focus on the gist rather than the logistics; fingers crossed.

There are many sons and daughters of famous politicians at Yale. If you are the child of a U.S. senator, you will get into Yale easily.

So the graphic you put up on the screen at 8:18 is the estimated cost per year to attend considering that someone gets in? For example if someone's family earns 100k to 150k they would have to pay around 15k to attend every year, and the scholarship covers around 57k every year, or am I totally wrong lol?
@HannahMariaXX4 жыл бұрын
yes that is right! that is the average amount someone would pay based on their annual income. & this would be what can be covered by outside scholarships/loans
@veronicagray71714 жыл бұрын
When youre going for graduate programs, do they still base your financial aid from your household income or individual income??
@HannahMariaXX4 жыл бұрын
not too sure! but def something you can look up on their website! (maybe in faqs) but i would think it would be individual?

btw..do they pay for all your daily needs or do you have to work on campus...? also what if you are an international student, do they finance that as well? sorry for my stupid questions...i'm just really curious... also, good work.:)
@HannahMariaXX4 жыл бұрын
they don’t play for laundry (i don’t think) but the dining halls have all meals & if you need it yale’s financial aid will cover the dining costs (and the food is SO good) sometimes you have to work on campus if yale deems a student contribution necessary, but u might be able to have an outside scholarship cover that...im not too sure ab international students sorry!! thx for the questions!
