I'm glad I found this Patrick's channel. His posts his expertise... and the community here on the channel. We aren't alone. Sometimes it feels like we're alone... but this community has shown me that there's a lot of us. And I actually feel seen.

@@TheWriterNW You ARE seen! You’re never alone on this channel. Patrick’s channel was the catalyst for my starting the recovery process from complex trauma. This was the first place I ever even heard of CPTSD! I immediately realized I was afflicted by it after watching some of his videos and reading comments from the community. It changed my life. I’m glad you’re here and wish you well on your healing journey. It’s tough work but it’s totally worth it. There are some really great other channels on the topic but Patrick is the best!

I’ve followed you for such a long time now but never had the courage to post. I live with my childhood trauma everyday. But I seem to attract abuse like a magnet. I’m 45 now & I say to people how can these things not be my fault. Their reply is “you were a child”. But I’m not a child now. Yet the same things happen by different people so it must be me 😢 (coincidence of your posts being so relevant to me & we have the same surname)

I used to think this too. But it's Not you. You have just got less detecting ability to spot the tricks, because it was trained out of you, very severely. Fantastic. I would like to title this one, "The Abuser's (lame a$$) Script." When my counselor described for me some typical patterns across abusive romantic relationships -- and then guessed lines much like your lyrics as things my husband had indeed said, I was convinced he would follow the rest of the patterns. Seeing the script was enough to convince me to leave. Being able to recognize that my ex-husband had zero creativity stripped away much of the power I had been attributing to him.

Thank you Patrick! You are a pretty neat human being. Very cool. I felt invisible for a number of decades - disconnected. One day, I met someone who mirrored back to me, my expression of my emotions. That was amazing. It brought up a ton of emotion, like my life blew up. Lolol. But for the first time I was able to not only connect with that person, but more importantly - I don’t know. Hard to describe. Not only was I seen, but I was unmasked. This song by Tom Petty is definitely a good one. I am glad that you enjoy your talent.

Hey--you've made it your own!-and well ! Thank you for sharing. I process and express thru music lyrics/all kinds of art as well. There are many aspects that feel similar in which you share/touch on--guess it's the flavor of trauma we kids here have in common. Just need to figure out how to get the songs out/down on paper. It's hauntingly beautiful- this song. One can feel how much the meanings hold. The way you sang this, made me think it was lyrics of your own at very first, then i realized. Good choice-or perhaps it chose you! Thanks again/you do more than you realize for everyone-past, present, and future... i'm happy for those that stumble upon your works that are there available as support. Be well, rock on.

"You got lucky that I found you" is a beginning of a relationship with an abusive narc. I sensed manipulation from the first words. Whoever hears this from a potential partner, should run away fast.
