Can we just pause to appreciate what an absolute KZbin genius Takashii is? Seriously. As a viewer who subscribed when he was only at 20k subs in late 2021, I've followed his growth for awhile now. He's at practically 1 mil subs in under 3yrs, he uses no B-roll, no music or SFX (n hence saves on subscriptions), he does very basic video editing which saves time n effort, and doesn't use any copyrighted content at all so no copyright claims. With >170 million views in the last 6 mths, his Adsense revenue must be fantastic. Not to mention sponsorships and affiliate links. As for content, yes he used to spend hours looking for interviewees but the content is basically generated from them with some well thought questions from him. Meaning little (if any) time wasted on scripts and storytelling, no studio set-up, no props, no costumes, no website, and very little gear which means low expenses. This is just what I see as an outsider. If anyone ever wanted to succeed on KZbin in one of the most resource efficient ways possible, I would highly recommend them study Takashii's channel. Congrats Takashii! Looking forward to what you've got planned next! 🎉

@MrBorington 11 ай бұрын
Even before the COVID, the Japanese wear face mask when they don’t feel well, afraid of spread illness to others, basically being considerate. And it could be due to the pollen season over there too. You may say why don’t they stay home. The work culture in Japan is you try not to take sick leave, because your coworkers will have to do your stuff when they are busy enough already.
@ideus3718
@ideus3718 11 ай бұрын
@須崎 because in Japan, it’s well ingrained in the culture to wear a face mask if you feel unwell and are out in public. It’s literally just consideration for the people around you, and minimising the risk of spreading a cold or illness to others unnecessarily.

Being Japanese mother who raised biracial (African American/Japanese)children in North Carolina, my husband and I had to make sure that our kids were raised in multicultural and diverse environments including schools and neighborhoods. @@dutchylondon In 1990s, people (usually black people) used to tell us that my kids should not identify themselves as 1/2 Japanese due to the 1 blood drop rule you just mentioned. My husband and I didn't pay no attention to those people. We are in the South (= NC), so people were still very closed-minded and believed such an old rule at that time. But for the past 15 years or so, we have not heard anyone say things like that. Time has changed.

@@walkwithmama but do your children themselves identify with being black? you can tell by the friends they keep, their wife/husband normally, political point of views etc. I very rarely see balanced biracial people, tend to lean to one side only. I get the feeling the guy in the video would like his kids to identify as black. both of them speak English to each other so when the child lives in USA she will forget Japanese very quickly anyway. he mentions his family is important but didn't stop to think what about her family in Japan, her parents etc
@walkwithmama
@walkwithmama 11 ай бұрын
@@dutchylondon Our children claim both races and ethnicity if asked. They always identify them as biracial or multiracial. They love being black and Japanese. They are comfortable being identified as both races/ethnicity but sometimes people around them are not. So I understand what you are saying. :) If some people would like to raise their child as black instead of biracial, I believe they have the right to do so and I wouldn't judge them for that. :) I was only speaking for my family. Although it was not easy at all, we enjoyed raising them and we are extremely proud of our well-around kids.

I agree, but parents should also be careful not to project their own experiences onto their children or assume that because a country is homogenous she will have problems . It's good that they are aware of issues that may arise, but also let the child be their own person and have their own experiences. Guess what I'm trying to say is don't make a problem out of something that might never happen, but intervene if it does. Some biracial kids in Japan never get bullied, feel japanese and have japanese friends, while others have a different experience. Being multicultural will bring about some identity "crisis" no matter where you live.

I don’t think it was too bad because we were all very welcoming of her. the last time i saw her was 13 years ago when we were teenagers and i was walking to the bank and she quickly recognized me and greeted me. i hope she’s doing okay.

A lot just swallow it and cope with the difficulties but these parents were honest about the reality that they are facing, their child is gonna face and other challenges that will come. The best thing that they said which I wholeheartedly support is to _'broaden the perspective of the child'_ - have more freedom for the child. I respect that so much.

@@princemiranda9456 Problem is; Germany made that mistake before. Taking in millions of foreigners to keep the economy going/kickstart the economy without anyone returning afterwards. Now there are parallel societies, crime, clan structures of foreginers into the highest institutions and the more there are of them, the more demanding they become which in turn eradicates indigenous cultures, archtectures and peoples. There has to be a law that tells these people to get back home once Japan is on route to having stable birth rates. There has to be immediate action taken. I don't want Japan, for the sake of the Japanese, their culture and their country to end up like many parts of America, Europe and Germany specifically. Diversity is not this happy utopia every daydreamer thinks it is. Sooner or later nothing but problems (For the normal folk) arrive and by then it will be to late.

One thing I did not particularly like about what the father said was " its going to take a long time before the Japanese accept diversity". We as foreigners have to accept that other countries are not like our native home and we shouldn't push our ideology on them because that creates resentment and hate. I can already tell these couples goal is to influence Japanese society to be more diverse, that ideology is almost colonialist.

Excellent interview! I love how they just say it how it is (honne) and not hide it (tatemae). Outstanding people. Japan can be very, "don't stand out" and "do as everyone else does without question" from a cultural standpoint. Here in Boston, MA, there's a ton of Chinese people. The state has one of the largest populations of Chinese people in the country. There's a good amount of blasians as well. It's a great thing for different cultures to experience and learn from each other.

You can just tell how amazing these parents are from how they talk about the reality of the future for their daughter, to what they plan to do for her to so she can be successful, and to how they look at her and smile at her. Oh and did anyone see an old lady walking her dog in the background? Her dog peed on a pole and she used a water bottle to hose it off. I wish people in my country would learn to be more courteous like this.

Thank you so much for the video as always!!!! It was cute how they danced around the word 'racism' 😅! Both were pretty articulate and honest. I've seen (few) healthy and happy international couples in Japan. Their secret? Talk honestly about thoughts, goals, plans and feelings. Which bear in mind is not necessarily a thing in Japanese culture, where you're supposed to understand your partner more 'instinctively '

I agree, anyone making this a thing cause hes black is being disingenuous and dont want to have a genuine discussion. If im visiting/living in another country i should be prepare to follow whatever rules are set in stone for such country. I think you can have some sort of diversity as long as it doesn't overtake the homogeneity of the country. IMO if people were so worried about diversity they should just stay in america lol.

Interesting interview even though some have commented that she's technically American, yet their challenges remain within the microcosm of Japanese society/culture. I'm Chinese and my wife is Filipina/Japanese and we live in Canada. We traveled to Japan several times and my sister in law just moved from Japan. Another issue that can arise with foreign mixed couples is that the foreign man, as an example, is not part of the "formula" when combined with their child and mother. Child + Mother might = 1 + 2 but the father will be 0. So this kind of situation has lead to those issues of Japanese moms taking the child back to Japan and the father has no say in terms or custody rights etc. We met an American dad who was trying to find his child back in Japan and we heard once he did, he had no rights to fight for custody for the child. We met an organization that was representing such parents a few years ago so I hope they have made some progress on behalf of such foreign parents. Asian Boss recently did a video of a similar case in Korea.

After living in Japan for over seven years, I have heard from many people, including Japanese who were raised and educated abroad, that they are afraid to stay. Personally, I was quite fascinated by Japanese culture after learning about it on NHK (English Program). Finally, there were times when my visual and auditory perceptions couldn't have been more different. Those in rural areas are the only Japanese people I feel a connection to, and I have no interest in staying in Japan or raising my son here because of city life. The mysterious allure of Japan's natural scenery, though, remains fascinating and still learning.
