You mean why the great khans only focused on conquest but never bothered to build infrastructure in their own land? Genggis Khan did build one big town but he didn’t let people stay too long as he said staying in a city too long would make them dumb, fat and lazy so every few weeks he sent them back to the steppes.

These people are so gentle and wise to their surroundings. This is one of those documentaries I wish had no ending. It's natural beauty, the music, the main characters and of course it's main idea...survival and coexistence with nature. At least that's my take...well, well done!! In the top 10 of my viewing pleasure.

Just to add a little bit of context, the nomadic people of Mongolia live off of the land. They depend on the land for everything, they don't have the option to go to a store and buy groceries. They rely on their herds of sheep, goat, and horses to survive. If there isn't a annual hunt of wolves then there will be overpopulation. The wolf population needs to be maintained at a certain level so there will be balance. Everything in nature has a balance. There is a set amount of predators and preys, when the predators become too many then the amount of prey goes down thus starving the predators. When there is few predators then there is many prey. It's a cycle.

We-Mongolians really love and worship our nature! This gentleman's (10.15) tears are genuine! We have been living in harmony with our nature for thousands of years! But the 21-st century is really not forgiving! Many animals, and much flora and fauna are rapidly disappearing every day due to the human greed and stupidity. So sad!

We Humans are the biggest predators on planet earth 🌏. How many cultures, animals amd many other things have disappeared from the face of the earth. Now the land is next everywhere humans population is growing so as their greed. Heartbreaking when the old man cries for these beutiful way of life and lands to be disappeared in front of their own eyes and yet they can not do anything like mining companies comming to dig whatever they need is pure greed without keeping in mind that this beauty will be destroyed because of them.

Easy for you to bash someone for hunting when you have a fridge full of food and no chance of starving to death or losing all ur assets (for nomads it's their livestock). Wolves can kill 40-60% of an entire herd in a single year. And a further 20-100% of his herd can die during a harsh winter. He either has to do this or lose his sheep and starve to death or be forced to move to the city (homeless, or living with relatives).

@@juliaherbet2063 In Mongolia there are very few place, where you can make agriculture. Its very sparely vegetated area. Plants are not nutritious, as you imagine. Only few animals can survive in this country. So Mongols had not much options. Of course, in somehow vegetated areas we make agriculture. But the vegetation period is limited with 3-4 months per year, so only special cold resistant sorts can be planted. Vegetarianism is in Mongolia pure romantism.

@@tugul8888 oh my, first I don't have a fridge full of food so you are speculating about something you are not sure, second these people will never starve to death just because they lost a few cows or goats, by the way they lose their livestock in great part because it's stolen and not killed by other animals and these things happen practically everywhere.
