I am single and unfortunately have no friends. It's close to impossible to make new friends here at my age. The companionship I get from my dog is priceless. Sometimes I worry what would happen to him if something happened to me. 07:30 "I'm in a world I don't belong to." Man, you really hit the nail with this one.

If you come to Singapore you will fit right in because we have an Aging society. Almost 20% of our population is above 65 and that no.is set to go up . I think by 2030 it will be 25% . It all depends on the demographics of your community and how Elders are treated. Perhaps in Oz you have a younger population.

I went to Canadian Human Rights, my Union and "Labour Relations", I Won at all Levels but got Screwed any ways ! It was like a Mosquito taking on an Elephant. And Lost 6 Years of my Life and my Health and Finances too. Lawyers in the End Betrayed me and took all my Money and was even given a Job with the Big Organization we we're Fighting. Yes , I find Government , Agency's and Work/Citizen so s called "Watchdog Protection" Organizations are just "Lip Service" and basically useless and you'll be waiting for Years for nothing ?! About Lawyers : Here one Lawyer was so Popular with the Criminals : "When your Guilty get Milty" ?! Also I went to the : Law Society ( another supposed Watchdog for Complaints regarding Lawyers) and when I got there they had Installed Bullet Proof Glass and I had to talk to the person in charge through a sound Port ?! Basically it was "take a number, fill out a form but Later nothing ??? Basically the "Law Society" is like getting one member of the Mafia to Rat on another member of the Mafia ?! Also we have Lawyers here who just specialize in : Drunk Driving, Divorce, Criminal Defence and even Human Rights (bunch a BS) etc. says it all ! Jim Canada

There are more old people these days as people live longer. Even old people have parents living who are in another category of " old" , the aged. It is very common now to be in your 60s or even 70s and have a parent alive still. So younger folks had better realise this is in their future.

Don't leave your dog outside when you go out. Instead keep him inside. If he acts up when he is alone, you can crate him during the time you are out. Love your sweet doggie!

I can relate to most everything you spoke about. I cannot speak from experience but I read somewhere that a good remedy for depression is to do some volunteer work. And bare in mind whenever you feel you are at the bottom of the ladder, just look down.

Re Bunnings the smaller shops are friendlier than the warehouses. I don't buy plants there. Pŕoper nurseries, though more expensive, give better service and free advice and will carry your stuff to the car.

Last time I bought a plant at Bunnings, I went to repot it into a bigger pot and to my amazement, the plant had no roots at all. They didn't even wait a few months for the cutting to take root. So they just cut a bit of branch and put it in a pot. How rude!

Old Age does pose a lot of problems even for the wealthy. But this sense of isolation and being ignored isn’t as prevalent everywhere. In Asian societies Elders are treated very well. In Malaysia they are called “ Warga Emas “ meaning “ Golden citizens” . Treated very well by society and the government. Youngsters are more respectful too. As an older person, I can testify to this in Malaysia especially but also Singapore.

@ I have noticed that too from my time in western countries. Maybe it is cultural but worth looking into and changing. Teach kids to respect their elders, especially the elderly. The government should set the tone , these are people who contributed to the nation in the past. In Singapore those born before 1950 are called the Pioneer Generation and they are accorded certain privileges. They have been issued with a card that they can use for discounts , to jump queues. Now those born in the 50s have also been issued a card with privileges . At elections for instance they join a fast lane, likewise in Malaysia. For a lot of services they get served first and get discounts. Filial piety is an Asian virtue practised by all Asians and it extends to other elders as we are programmed to treat them how we would want our parents to be treated.

Good video and it was clear. Now me being a woman, I have a couple of close friends and joined some social activities. I come from a big family but my brothers and sisters and daughter live in different provinces here in Canada. We video chat quite often. I am a single senior so have two companion cats that both greet me when I come home. Pets are good for your soul❤ My only concern is that my pension is not going as far as it used to so I have to really budget. I noticed I was old in my mid-50s. My thoughts and opinions were ignored and dismissed. I gave up and don't say much these days. That's probably why I interact on youtube😃 Now to mention buying things, especially clothes, are just crap and not meant to last. I don't know why we lost so much if not all manufacturing to countries with child and low wage workers. Anyway, hang in there and hug your dog. He is so handsome.

Same for me. Family live a long way away. And I agree about pets 100%. If I could afford it, I would get another one. Australia has no manufacturing at all.. we sold our souls to China so the companies can make a bit more profit, and the price we paid is vastly inferior clothing and more land fill from items that only lasts years instead of decades. Oh my dog every 30 mins comes over for a pat/hug/scratch. He doesn't like strangers though, so they never see his good side.

I'm retired at 65 and there's no way I would work for anybody else ever again. I don't give a shit about anything except my family either. I paid taxes for 50 years so I'm collecting as much government money as I can and will live out my days on the taxpayers dime. It's payback time BABY!

We have no financial worries, even if there are emergencies ahead we will be fine. But I fear old age for problems mkney cant solve. Health and lack of fitness. We live longer these days but what about quality of life? Lack of mobility or suffering from conditions that are debilitating are more fearful to me than death. I agree Aging sucks.😢

Yes, health is #1 priority. I read that gen-z are going to be the very first generation that will have shorter lifespans than any preceding generation. Mostly from the abundance of junk food in their daily life I'm guessing.

I am not concerned about finance at all but am worried about problems money cant solve. So its scary even for those of us who are well off. We lose control as we age due to mental incapacity , mobility or health problems. It is important to establish good relationships with family and friends in our earlier years, those in our age group and younger. I am in my 50s and wont feel isolated even when older as I am close to my siblings, cousins , kids , nieces, nephews etc. Also with friends. It is important to have a community to support us as we age. Not just family but also friends, church, etc

He's not a "very dangerous dog". He can bark and snap that's true if his space is invaded. Every dog is going to react to being teased. And the assessor told me being snappy is not a factor as part of the role of an assistance dog is protection, so people are not allowed to pet an assistance dog as they are considered to be working.
