It’s very true when people say “tomorrow is another day” even though it’s sometimes hard to think things improve, and this is true for everyone, disabled or not. . I agree that the weather is a bloody nightmare to anyone who uses a wheelchair, but summer is on its way. I’ve really enjoyed the deeper thoughts in this video, thanks for your honesty xx

I love that you actively look for things to be grateful for because we all get in funky moods with or without wheelchairs. I am a nurse and I used to work on a haematology ward and Cared for many young people in their 20 s who were dying. They taught me so much about life and what it means to be present and take joy when u can . I once spent a whole 10 hour shift crying with a 24 yr old who discovered she was dying on her honeymoon. She just kept saying I don’t want to die .. I will take anything else but not death . Her pain became mine , my husbands and everyone around her . I don’t take anything for granted especially not the assumption that good health is my right . I love listening to you and really want to ask some pretty private questions ( my husband thinks I am way too nosy ) but I have always wondered what makes a good nurse when u are in hospital? Like what makes someone s care for you better than anyone else’s ? I will leave u alone now .. I have got some of my Aussie friends watching you now and I love the podcast xx

Fantastic feedback! Thanks so much. There is a great saying I heard recently "The healthy person has a thousand wishes - the sick person, only one" As for what makes a good nurse, I would say in my experience, a smile, eye contact, a good sense of humour and genuine interest in the patient. But if I had to pick just one, it would be the smile 😉

Doing inpatient rehab soon, so much pressure to walk from well wishers it's really stressful... you've shown me that actually, if I can work on the fatigue management and pain, improve access to the things I enjoy such a being in nature, going for a swim, an adapted car, that will be a win. Will others still be sad for me if I don't walk out of rehab like the old me? Guess that's not my business. Thanks for your Zen 💗

Yeah this was a tongue in cheek take on how life can suck sometimes, regardless of disability, but I agree, it does provide extra challenges for us wheelies 😉

@@FreddotheWheelchairGuy it took a lot for me to finally admit I needed a wheelchair and it took a lot for me to talk to my doctor about it. I am not paraplegic but sometimes I have moments of paraplegia if that makes sense. Like I lose all feeling and if I’m walking I fall, it happened earlier this week I fell twice and hurt myself. It may be more challenging for us but I feel like it gives me better independence in my daily living.
