What’s your background mate, first time in Bali what draws you there etc. keep them coming mate absolute breath of fresh air cheers Rob from Gero

Hi Rob from gero. :). Thanks. First time to Bali in 1985. Been traveling and living in the region in India, Nepal, Indo etc a bit. I'm drawn by the ease and attitude toward living, the cost of living, low stress... Background in publishing/advertising but didn't think much of it. Not driven at all by accumulation of wealth... Cheers.

I totally get the not biking on the trip.....and YES, I would have seen that accident as a bit of a........ "ARE YOU SURE THATSBA GOOD IDEA MOMENT " My prefered way to travel is....when buget isnt a great concern is getting a driver....even just to the next stop where I want to explore......find a place to stay that feels good and suits my needs and thats my base for a week or so....... And I love to do the walks, like yourself. I feel we miss so much as we set our mind on just getting to the next place. All the places we travel through to get their have their stories to tell, they are also a destination. Also I feel and sense so much more when walking......there is no disconnect and in a place like Bali it is not good to be in that mindset. Youll laugh at this I only scrolled down whilst watching another channel, yes.....its true.......I have been seeing other channels. 😂 And almost scrolled past....didnt recognize the hat and shirt. Already seeing this 2nd channel as a really wise move.....its a little more educational in the fact we actually get to explore these places with you and get a bit of history and the particular industry or villages stategic location for ??? Thanks Wayne..... 🕊🙏💙🙏🫵

Ah, the delights of the warungs along the front at Padangbai, the semi-organised chaos of the pier, The Golden Queen boats . . . then (for us) Candidasa and the golden sands of the Gilis. You might struggle for bemos going north, but bikes can be lethal in the wet - and it is, after all, the rainy season!
@WCMoss4 күн бұрын
Hi Kevin. i think it was The Golden Queen I used last time as well. i'm a little disappointed at not riding around Bali on a bike again, it's such a joy. Padangbai is a great little port, I think.

Good to see a bit of Padangbai again. Next to . where the fish was being grilled is where I filmed my Jukung [double outrigger canoe] being built. Opposite is the 'Talk of the Town' cafe, and worth a visit. If you do say hello to Kadek, the owner, from Steve. The Jukung docos are on my you tube channel steveroperfilms. Cheers. ps. There's a regular Bemo service from Padangbai to Candidasa.

A bike in the rainy season can be a pain. I just got a good quality cape which covered everything which meant i can keep going no matret what and always have a set of dry clothes and a towel under the seat. You really cant beat a bike for getting around Bali. Accidents must be avoided at all costs, youre bang on about local attitudes. I always find it frustrating the lack of fish in Bali considering its an island. Thai islands are considerably better for that.
@WCMoss4 күн бұрын
I'm envious of you if you're getting around on a bike yourself, rb. I love touring Southeast Asia on a bike but this time it just didn't feel right.
