Your happiness in your chosen country is infectious, making it enjoyable to watch. NZ is an expensive country to live in compared with many others. There are many causes but primarily a small population in a country the size of Japan means there are not the volume efficiencies in transport, production and logistics that enable larger societies to produce at lower cost. However, there are so many free things like walks, beaches and parks that help make up for the higher daily living costs. Remember there are few harmful pests, no killer spiders, snakes or large animals so you can picnic safely almost anywhere you find a beautiful spot with a view.

I do like Bay of Islands and up north but problem with visiting these places is the cost but it's understandable as it's expensive to deliver food, drink, gas & other products to these small out of the way communities . I am from Northland and the best Pakeha way to pronounce "Paihia" is "Pie- Here"(as in the English) The original name for Russell was "Kororareka" (as in Coro rah- rayker) and it was changed when Russell became New Zealand's first capital - It was never a city!

Awesome day out indeed, but those NZD prices must be hurting big time 😂. And people say don’t convert 😂. Once you start to earn NZDs, then it is going to be interesting to see on a ratio how much fun money you have vs the fun money you had in SA and how much you can do with it there. I hope that you cover at some point what you guys had shipped over there as I am sure major decisions were made as to what you should ship vs what you have paid to buy there, etc. I know one is for sure, I’ll actually ship a full proper braai 😂 and a potjie pot and all the goodies we get here that you just cannot get there or any other country. 😊
