DISNEY WORLD MAGICBANDS 2.0 UNBOXING & COMPARISON | beingmommywithstyle

We received our first set of Magic Bands for our upcoming Disney World vacation for Disney Social Media Moms 2017! (We will be receiving 3 sets because of transferring to different hotels throughout different portions of the trip.) We show wearing the bands and also what they look like on the kids (5 year old that's small for her age & 6 year old) compared to the old style MagicBands! Also, I TRIED to get the Mickey puck out of the middle of the band, which is one of the new functionalities of the bands... but was unsuccessful. We do not have a screw driver that fits it. I'll have my husband try and share that in a future vlog if we are successful with that! ;)

Got ours for our February trip this week too. My 4 year old granddaughter is Soooooo excited , we can't wait! I let her pick out our colors she is a pink girl, red for her Mom grey for my husband, purple for me. I wasn't too sure about the change in shape but it is growing on me. We are staying at the Grand Floridian and it is so nice to be able to go directly to your room if it is ready with these bands. Amazing technology.

if you buy one of the keychains that you're supposed to put the puck in, it comes with the little screwdriver to unscrew it. hope this helps :)

They are different! I think it will maybe take a day to get used to them, but they feel very similar to the other bands - they aren't any heavier or anything. Thanks for watching!!

I know when you purchase accessories for the MB2.0 that a screw driver is supposed to come with it, but it still seems to me to be a bit of a big pain...

Paige Collins if you are staying at a disney world resort you get them free. You can sign in on the disney website and customize your magic bands (choose the color and name you want on the back) otherwise you will get the standard grey colored band. If you live in the US, they will send them to you before your trip. If you live in another country, you will pick them up at your hotel front desk when you check-in. I hope this helps.

Aimee DeSanto if you want a special edition magic band or one with designs on it, you can buy it in the parks, disney springs, the disney world resort hotels or disney store online and have that magic band linked to your account. Disney only provides the plain color or grey ones complimentary. You must if you want the others. I hope this helps.

Thank you!! ♥ Yes, the new MagicBand2s are being sent to guests that book now and they have some of the new styles sold in the parks & on the Parks App. If you search 2017 merchandise, you can find the new 2017 MB2 that is available now.

It was because of the structure of the trip - we stayed at one resort when we arrived, then went to the second resort for a conference, then we went on a cruise - and we stayed at the third resort on the night after the cruise.

Do you only get magic bands when you go to the resorts in Disney?

You get the magic bands when you stay at a Disney Resort or if you are an AP. If you are not staying on property, you can buy them at stores at WDW starting around the $12.95 price range, and then link your tickets to them.

When you stay on property, you receive the bands complimentary as a part of your package, and they act as your ticket/and room key, so you want to have them with you because it is how you will get into the parks & room. They send them to you about a month prior to your stay.

From what I understand though, that's only for those who live in the US. If you live anywhere else, you have to pick them up at the front desk of your resort upon arrival. My best friend and I (both of us adults in our early-ish twenties) are planning on a Disney trip for the fall of 2018. She's never been before, and I've been twice but never stayed on site. We are very excited about it all, especially since it will be the first time ether of us us has traveled without a parent/guardian of some kind. If all goes smoothly it will be a very memorable trip in many ways :D

The serial number on the back is only good once. When you pair it to an account it is on there for good. You cant trade them to other people, you cant buy used ones and have them work for you. It's a one and done sort of deal.

They come around 30 days before your trip after you have a package paid in full at WDW. You don't get them if you just buy the tickets separately without a package - you can purchase them in the parks and have your hard ticket put on it - but you need to be staying on property to get them automatically.

Magic Kingdom is a must do!! :) We also really love the character meals because of the extra time you get to spend with the characters, so if you could work one of those in at a place like Chef Mickey's, or Ohana, I think they are really fun! Thanks for watching!

Does it indicate on the website whether you will get the old or new style, or did yours just show up as the 2.0's? I will be there this June and when I went to customize them on the website, it still showed the old design. I personally like the old one better, but I just want to know what I will be receiving so it's not a surprise!

I believe it still shows the graphic for the old design, but going forwards you should be receiving the new MB2s. I know in the February travel group I was in, people were receiving the new ones. Hope that helps! :)

We bought a stitch one for my oldest and my biggest complaint with it is that if I was to remove the gray part some of the design would come off! So I have to just leave it on and get it as snug as I possibly can without pinching her wrist! Can't wait to get ours for our princess race weekend in February :)

I really like the new magic bands as well. They were really comfortable when using them for park entrances and fastpass entrances. I think it shapes to your wrist better than the originals! Great video, and have an awesome time at the parks in February!!

Hey there Di! I've seen official photos of the lanyard and key fob that will hold the new Mickey puck. If you buy one of those accessories it is supposed to come with the tiny screwdriver. I think I'm going to continue to use it bracelet style though. The lanyard might be harder to use for the fast pass queue. It will be interesting to see its uses in the parks and also, if some awesome Etsy shops will develop cute accessories for them as well! Hope y'all have a great time!

Finally! Someone came through for me and posted images of the new bands on small children. THANK YOU! I'm surprising my 4 nieces and nephews with a trip at the end of February, and I worry that the new bands just look very large in all the photos I'm seeing. I've been waiting for someone to post a video like this, so I really appreciate that you did! What's your take on he new bands, and particularly the size or bulk for small children?

Glad it we helpful! :) Laid flat (as they will lay) side by side, new band and old band - the new band is only a few millimeters longer than the old band with the gray part taken off of each of them. (So in "child mode" if you will, lol.) What makes the new band appear a bit bigger, is because of the bigger "round Mickey" area, more of that surface will not bend, thus making that top part larger against the child's wrist. Whereas, on the old bands, it would just start flexing around. So while it does seem slightly larger on them, I don't think it will be anything that is too cumbersome or make it unable to wear them, I'm interested to try them out next week!

Hey Di! I just watched a video on the magic band 2.0 the other day. He stated that if you buy an accessory pack, like to turn the puck into a key chain or lanyard, the tiny screwdriver is included in those accessory packs. :) Btw, these new bands look super cool, and I can't wait to get ours!

You can use your old bands from previous trips. We brought last year's bands with us for this trip. I am using mine but Grumpy found a "grumpy" band on eBay to use. (I did buy a Minnie Mouse today for myself.) If you aren't using your old bands & do Disney's My Experience online, place the old bands on Inactive. If we ordered bands for each resort stay, it would be 4 bands each for Grumpy & me on this trip. BTW, we liked Beach Club Villas especially being so close to Epcot World Showcase. I got a cold while we were there last week & Grumpy started to get a cold the other day here at Coronado Springs. He is on antibiotics in addition to his chemo regimen. I've been going to the parks by myself. Will be at Old Key West on Monday. Love it. Weather has been warm & finally we get to wear short sleeve tops & shorts/capris instead of jackets & long pants. It looked like the magic band had a lot more spacing for the kids, then the old ones. It appears as if they are much too big for the kids (even when you made it smaller). Was that just me?

Their wrists are super tiny, the amount leftover was about the same - but the thing that makes it look bigger is because that disk/puck area is wider & bigger it takes up more space on their wrist, effectively making the band part go further down their wrist... if that makes sense. I think the actual bands are comparable - but since the face part is bigger, that does bring the band down a bit. Not sure if I explained that correctly.
