Treasure Hunting in a CLOSED Vacuum Shop!

The other day I went to a closed vacuum repair shop with some other collectors! Everything needs to go quite soon so we all filled our cars and barely made a dent. But, what is inside? What does it all look like? Will we find any treasures?

Thanks! Tbh that's what will happen to all of what we don't save 😢 Blokes retired, the business as a concern has been sold and the building is costing him money sat empty.

That place looks absolutely mental, I would be instantly overwhelmed by everything there is to see there. It's sad about the closure after being in operation for that many years! But it's really nice that the owner let in collectors to get some bits. The greedy in me is thinking that I need everything in there to myself but to be honest If at least the majority of stuff ends up in collectors hands to be appreciated then I consider that a happy ending.

Yea it's sad it's closed. They've merged with another company not far away I think. The owner was a great guy (the older guy in the red jumper you see here and there) and just wants it all saved before he has to scrap the lot as the building is costing him £17000 a year just to sit empty with the rates and bills. I'm also lucky in that all the vintage vacuum parts in interested in are the most worthless! He's made a fortune on all the numatic bits so far 😂😂

@@beko1987 I would have considered driving all the way from southern Europe to the UK just to get some bits from that place if I weren't a broke student 😅. Oh well maybe in the future there will be another treasure trove shop of vacuum bits found, you never know!

What an amazing place, you just dont think they exist any more, but the sheer amount of vacuum stuff there shows a lifetime's career of what someone has amassed, quite incredible really seeing new old stock parts dated 1969 - thats the same age as Mr Ibaisaic, lol - I bet he would have been in heaven down there, as much as Mr Dan and Mr Ryan. I hope he finds homes for as much of his stock as possible, as once its gone, its gone and non replaceable. Will look forward to your next videos showing your haul - I bet you would have had much more had you had the money and the storage space, I imagine you felt a little overwhelmed and carried away rooting through all those parts and seeing all the complete old vacuums. Great visit and thanks for showing it all to us!

It was wonderful! The bloke in the red jumper was the owner, been there since the 60s and knew where all the parts came from. As you say, amassed over a lifetime!

Looks like they were a big operation, I thought that we had a lot of stock but this surpassed the amount we had. A lot of the items and boxes were familier to me. I was amazed to see an 0212 polisher armature they became obsolete a very long time ago which is a shame because they were a brilliant polisher, I wonder how many 0212 polishers have been scrapped because of dud armatures and how many new armatures have been scrapped that someone would have liked. The Lux 55 and 65 field coils were only available as pattern parts, Unlike Hoover Electrolux only supplied complete motors (apart from Carbon brushes). Sadly there is not much future for electrical shops in this throw-away-age with most stuff being unrepairable due to lack of spares or cost.

You probably knew what all the codes on the boxes meant too! We did mention that, how in 20/30 years there's probably not going to be collectors finding a place like that full of day Dyson dc25, 40 spares, shark bits etc as it doesn't happen anymore 😢

I had a maroon 0212 in my shed and if I remember I binned it about 2 yrs ago as I knew I could not get an armature for it. Best polisher Hoover ever made.

@@scrimperuk I think I have 2 or 3 of the old Maroon 0212 polishers but they seem to be running ok at the moment. I did have one of the pale blue 0212A machines but I no longer have it.
