Private education has consistently outperformed public education for three decades, and the gap continues to widen. They are but face challenges or focus on addressing issues schools face along with learners to education. Private education(sector) performs well due to the resources they have at hand. Most of the dobe's problems boil down to that, access to resources which had not been there before especially in no-fee schools in rural areas largely dependent on government financing. Investing imore money will be beneficial, along with extra curriculars and talking to mental health professionals will be more beneficial to students continued enrolment/performance in schools.

With regards to Home Schooling, the bill unfortunately assumes that the government's curriculum is the best one for each child, and this is grossly false and won't be in the best interest of all children. If the government's curriculum was indeed the best, why have basic numeracy and literacy skills worsened over the last 15 years? Why is South Africa's education system rated amongst the lowest in the world? Parents must have the freedom to choose curriculums that are superior and in the best interest of their children! The government is already struggling with a shortage of skilled maths and science teachers and with capacity/resources to administer responsibilities that are currently on their hands, why worsen this by adding further complications to the system?

@thato596 but this bill has nothing to do with afrikaans as a subject but rather Afrikaans as a language of instruction. There are 25000 schools in South africa. Of them, 2500 are Afrikaans (duel and single medium). Of those, only 1200 are Afrikaans as a single medium. In other words, we aren't talking about a lot of schools. This is NOT the status qou of RSA to have Afrikaans schools. Futher more, the constitution allows schools to teach students in their mother tongue. I completely understand if there are Afrikaans only schools in areas where the overwhelming majority people are english AND no english school exist OR can be built in that area (worth to note the ANC has severly lacked in building enough schools the last 20years or keeping existing schools at adequate performance) And then what about German schools? Or Tswana schools. If people wish to send their children to a school that not only provides education in their home language but rather more importantly provides a cultural meaning (which is for most people more important) then it is their right to recieve such education. Lastly, a TON of afrikaans schools are already english. I dont see how introducing this bill will drastically improve education in South africa. Seems like a populist move, but im open to debate
