In 1922 the British institutions didn't leave, they were guaranteed their continuance by the treaty, They were the only people educated organised & familiar with the running of the civil service & Judiciary, I don't need to explain to you that these institutions were notoriously anti Irish. Kings inns est. 1530, civil service est. 1801, the law society est. 1801, Royal college of surgeons est. 1784, Dublin city council 1539. Through a system of keeping the natives out & nepotism the same family's with the same contempt for the natives have retained their positions. These are all royal chartered bodies with no statutory footing in Ireland. Lately they've begun rewriting Irish history, inserting their own heroes from Trinity & UCD (who the fuq is samuel Beckitt?) Both local & National parliaments are only advisory & those who take up office have a fiduciary duty to the establishment, Everyone acts on best legal advice or they'll be removed by the AG!

So the reality after one year is that inflation adjusted and even according to dictator-controlled data from Belarusian statistics bureau, the Belarusian GDP dropped by 0,6% from Q2 2023 to Q2 2024. Official inflation from August 23 to 24 was 6,3%. EU GDP rose in the same time by 4% with only 2,4% inflation between August 23 to 24. Euro didn't collapse. Poland didn't occupy Western Ukraine. Germany didn't convert to a rust belt - even our economy grew inflation adjusted by 4% between Q2 2023 and 2024.

Just wondering on which pole of the multi-polar world do you plan to end up? That one where there are thousands of people are being tortured every day because they didn't like what happened in Minsk in 2020, hundred of thousands had to flee the country and will possible never be able visit their homes, or one where life is so hard in Dublin that you can't afford a house as a graduate?
@IrishPartizan Жыл бұрын
No, I want to end up in the world that has been proposed by China ie. a return to international law based on the UN Charter, where the sovereignty of states is protected not the US led international rules based order (might is right) which has destroyed dozens of countries and killed untold millions in the pursuit of imperial hegemony and dominance. Speaking of human rights, I never said that Russia or Belarus is perfect. I believe in the concept of free speech. However you have missed the bit where Ukraine has outlawed all opposition parties and media, imprisoned thousands with many more missing, rehabilitated Stepan Bandera, and his Far Right ideology called Banderism which calls for the elimination and removal of anyone not deemed to be their concept of what is a Ukrainian, e.g. ethnic Russians, Roma people. Belarus for its faults thankfully does not have this white supremacist and racist ideology. It's far more inclusive. I would advise you to read up on Andrei Biletskiy and the Azov. After that you can look up the case of the Kononovich Brothers, ethnic Belarusians who have been tortured by the SBU and are now facing prison. Then there is Anatoly Shariy who despite leaving Ukraine and now living in exile in Spain, still lives in fear of being extraditied back to Ukraine where he faces being tortured or worse. There's also the case of Gonzalo Lira. And I haven't even scratched the surface.

Hey folks, Just a tad of pondering on the subject ye mentioned ( From a different standpoint ) : 1. Ireland have a big problem with housing, minus craic, however (!) the country is very friendly and can offer a good income ( construction , IT , sales and Pharma ) - very good option for people from post-soviets countries. Get yourself a master degree for 1 year ( yes, in Ireland it is just one year ) get ye English to good level and you'll find a good job back home ( or somewhere else ) + you can stay in the country for few years to get some experience if you feel like it; 2. In fairness, I have to say that moving ( be it to China, Russia, Ireland etc. ) is a good idea only if you have a plan or to be candid - job offer; 3. Please, take any message from Russian media with a grain of salt it sits next to the Sun; 4. Good economic situation does not mean a happy life. True virtue often emerges from life's challenges. I like the idea of moving around, but every so often economic migration seems to me like a modern plague. By the way, is there a clever tie between PFC and the name of the channel? :D

Sanctions appear to have backfired. Banning things often drives prices higher. As Russia is a major commodities supplier perhaps its worked in their favour? EG Alcohol prohibition in 1920s USA drove prices higher and created a black market. Drugs industry is another example. Prices reflect additional risk of supply. Russia has also played a very skilled diplomatic game.
