In 1997/8 Cliftonville won the league over The Blues. Their penultimate game decided it. They were at home to the Glens but ONLY DREW The Blues were away to Coleraine with blue reject Wes Lamont in goal . Wes played a stormer To keep Linfield SCORELESS and give the Reds the title The Reds fans had to wait inside the ground as the Coleraine , Blues fixture started late. Footnote : thankfully no-one lies down , not even Wes Lamont who I was informed in an earlier, game had been subjected to abuse by red " fans ", 😳 due to his Linfield connection. A belated THANKS Wesley for your professionalism. Oh yes , the last day fixtures have a familiar ring to them! GREAT VLOG😇

Atmosphere was pretty good with a decent attendance. As a supporter of a Dublin club would love to see regular fixtures against the likes of Linfield, Glentoran etc..Would be great someday to see a fully professional all-island league established but in the meantime how about a Setanta type cup maybe with a European spot for the winner?

I’d love to see the best teams on the island play each other regularly. There is too much of a gap in quality between the top of the leagues and the bottom, at times it gets boring.

@@ThePeakys To develop the game and the clubs on the island it really is a no-brainer. The big potential problem is politics and security but the potential here is huge to develop a top quality European football league. That said, it'll need general agreement on both sides of the border.

Am I hearing those Linfield fans correctly, singing “from Belfast right too Dublin, we burnt the F’n Ra”” ?? If so I wouldn’t agree with it being called “mighty impressive stuff”. Other than that there was good noise all through the game, a decent crowd, glens had several chances but good competitive battle on the pitch by both teams. Hopefully a win for Cliftonville today but that will be a seriously tough game I’d imagine. Larne are no walk overs and will certainly want to play their part in the title deciding.

This reporter talked about party tunes, well going by his commentary any thing going on in the background was taunting and cheering which is all part and parcel of the behaviour by spectators at Derby matches, but I didn't hear any part tunes being sung.

I was there and a selection of ‘party tunes’ were sang. I edited the video so these tunes were not on it or were cut at the point where the tunes got a bit ‘partyish’. Personally I don’t give a toss about the tunes but the video is to show the good in the league and I feel that singing these tunes wouldn’t be suitable for the videos.

Spot on mate. Binfield sing these songs at every game home or away. Absolute shower of shite the lot of 'em. The laugh is their club colours are blue and white. They added the red in to appeal to the lowest common denominator in a typical Norn Iron stylee. Thats why all the knuckle scrappers love them.
