Not wrong at all about the leash. I have a Mal mix. On leash he will pull for other animals, off leash he is cool until challenged. He went up to three foxes in my yard, obviously off leash, he was initially friendly, one Fox snapped at him, and he lit that thing up. I spend all day with my 3 year old Mal mix I know him very well. My dog is 50/50, Mal and German shepherd and about 87 lbs.

I mean it's another canine, it's the exact same sort of predator as the dog is. And the dog reacted to it the way a lot of not-so-well trained dogs react when they see another dog they don't know while on a leash.

I grew up on a farm. We raised Golden retrievers. They were never on a leash. They were particularly large one around 90 to 100 pounds. Any animal that came into the yard was attacked viciously. It always surprised me that these lovable creatures were to fierce,fearless and capable.

Hovawart are standard old timer Euro farm dog, AND look like retrievers but will take on transients and worry them, on the farm, until relieved by handler. Retrievers will take on critters but not people.

The nicest roads I've ever seen were by far in northern Virginia, several counties there in fact. Obviously if you go to some enclave like Brentwood or Mercer Island the roads will be nice, but I'm talking about entire counties where the roads are nice. I would say the worst roads that I've seen were in Philadelphia or maybe around Hartford CT just busted asphalt everywhere, it trashes a car's suspension.

A problem here. Coyotes aren't social creatures. The fact that he seems unimpressed with a dog and person, AND it's daylight, indicates something is wrong with this picture.
@triple67582 ай бұрын
They are self domesticating. They no longer fear humans because humans are weak and no longer a recognized threat.
@KozuFox2 ай бұрын
It indicates he's a street smart coyote who's been living in those suburbs and knows that a passive human and a dog on a leash won't chase after him. The way to prevent this is for people to intentionally spook urban adapted coyotes whenever they see them out in broad daylight like this. Keeps them wary of humans instead of being unimpressed.
@raymondm444112 күн бұрын
@@KozuFox Yep. When would take GSD for a walk at my last home and would see a fox/coyote, I'd keep him on leash and we both would run after the thing. He totally knows the difference between predators and non-predators. He casually jogs at Rabbits, groundhogs and deer. If he is off leash and goes full sprint, it's always a fox/coyote.

@Benglator13 ай бұрын
Why would you say it is too hot for? I see neither the dog or the coyote panting before the dog goes off. Dogs pant when they are hot and coyotes do the same. Who are you to say how a dog is supposed to act or behave. I had a rott/hound mix once for 14 years. Would not listen to squat while in the house but once outside, the dog would know exactly what I wanted and would do it. Never had no formal training as none is needed.
