Final day of Witte Molen tournament - game for 5th and 6th place.
The Belgium team reached an encouraging 7th place in the 1987 European Championship (held in Belgium). After that, the national team fell apart. No program, no structure, no results. Only once a year, at the Witte Molen Tournament, a team was put together for a few days.
I like this game for a number of reasons:
- the unique Fréjus style of volleyball (great defence + Fabiani-Gratton combination)
- any footage of (the late) Johan Baetens, Emile Rousseaux is a treat
On a side note: the Belgian team is coached by Stanislaw Gosciniak (member of Golden Polish Generation in the 70s).
Fréjus: 1. Glenn Hoag, 2. Jacques Attia, 3. Hervé Mazzon, 5. Eric N'Gapeth, 9. Paul Gratton, 10. Eric Moricet, 12. Alain Fabiani, 8. Ludovic RIchard (?)
Belgium: 2. Ben Croes, 3. Patrick Van Meerbeeck, 4. Jacky Kempenaersn, 6. Emile Rousseaux, 8. Johan Baetens, 10. Henk Strijbos, 11. Philippe Coessens, 14. Danny Sannen,
