England! A country built on mass genocide, rape, pillaging and murder. Yeah, cool bro!
@SoSo-sf1fy
@SoSo-sf1fy 2 жыл бұрын
@ I Am His - every country has a history of genocide, rape, pillaging and murder. That’s just what life was like many hundreds of years ago. Try and read up on history without your anti-English goggles on, this is clouding your ability to read facts. Reaching into history and trying to apply it to life today is crazy. Even your precious Ireland has a fair bit to answer for (sailing to the West of England and taking English slaves to trade) see, no one has a rosy history to stop focusing on the ills of just one. If you dislike the poor treatment faced the the aboriginal Australians then do them a favour and give the chunk of Australia you are occupying back to them and move somewhere else. English people living in England today are the ones who didn’t go and take over land from other countries and pass it to their defendants - were the one who stayed here and didn’t take from others so it’s really strange the the defendants of those who did leave their homeland and take land away from others are lecturing the English who stayed put.

@@SoSo-sf1fy Wow, such a great comment of deflection and denial, very typically English of you. Acting like the English in England are these innocent saints who stayed put and did nothing wrong.. 🤣🤣🤣 Are you sucking on fumes? You're delusional mate! The ENGLISH ESTABLISHMENT ARE THE ONE'S WHO BROUGHT US HERE TO START A PRISON COLONY AND SAUGHTERD THE INDIGENOUS PEOPLE AND IMPRISONED THE IRISH! Thats a fact, not opinion, you dull bulb! Those of you English on the homelands sit on a legacy of endless lies, denial and brutal crimes. And yes, people the world over have committed atrocities in all countries but NONE like that of the English. You can harp on all day about how England is so innocent but it makes no difference. History speaks for itself. So move along!
@SoSo-sf1fy
@SoSo-sf1fy 2 жыл бұрын
The “English establishment” brought far more English convicts to Australia than they did Irish so if by “bringing us here” you mean bring other English to Australia then yes, they did. I did not in any way imply that English are innocent, if you actually read any of my comments is am clearly stating that Elite upper class English people treated the working class English people horribly and still do. If you want to point out the horrible things that the elite English people in charge hundreds of years ago did then make sure you are pointing your finger at those people, not the working class people who have been treated worse than anyone by the elite English for the last 2000 years. You really need to start basing your knowledge in fact, not misplaced emotion. You haven’t added any comment on the facts of the ‘home children’ or other instances of working class English people who make up Australia so start by that

I am Australian and i can tell you that these sort of divisiins dont exist, and anglo celtic australian culture does not differentiate between the two anymore. Sectarian differences based on ancestral origin have also blurred and have not played a part in our society for at least 50 years. Also not surprising recent migrants from UK and Ireland tend to stick together as they see that they have more in common with each other compared to local australian born anglo celts who are already different.

I'm Australian but my family is Geordie. Apparently I spoke with a broad Geordie accent until I was about six. Then I started school and lost it. It's super common to have a mum or (or both) from the UK here so normally we can imitate their accent a bit. We actually descend predominantly from the Irish. We have the highest content of Irish descent in the world, second only to Ireland itself. And how did the Irish get here? The English brought them here in chains as prisoner's to do hard labour for petty crimes. Such as 7 year's hard labour for stealing a loaf of bread to feed their starving families. We don't forget that kind of brutality here. That includes the mass genocide on the indigenous people of Australia too. The greatest hero in Australia is NED KELLY for a reason. An Irish, Australian man who stood up against the English establishment. So don't fool yourself.

@ I Am Him - again, completely incorrect. The majority are if English ancestry not Irish. The number 1 ancestry In Oz is English, not Irish. The top and most common last names of today’s Australians are English, not Irish. The vast majority of convicts brought to Australia “in chains” were English - working class of course, upper classes rarely faced prison for their crimes. Where are you getting your history from? England’s population is so much bigger than Ireland’s and so many people in England have Irish ancestry. The whole point of making Australia a penal colony in the first place was because had too many prisoners and not enough places to put the , that’s why so many English convicts were taken to Australia. If you want to be proud of Your Irish roots then be proud of stuff they have actually done instead of taking away from the history of English people. Even to this day English people are the top immigrant majority so please Sarah where you are getting your facts from

The western Australian accent was influenced by the influx of cockney and rural orphans after WW1 . Cockney greeting 'alright mate' with rural greeting 'how you getting on' became 'How are ya' Heard a llingquist describe that on the radio... sounds plausible. Cheers to all.

In 1770, Royal Navy captain James Cook, during his first voyage to the Pacific, sailed along and mapped the east coast of Australia, which he named New South Wales and claimed for Great Britain.[1] Seventeen years later, following the loss of its American colonies in 1783, the British Government sent a fleet of ships, the "First Fleet", under the command of Captain Arthur Phillip, to establish a new penal colony in New South Wales. A camp was set up and the flag raised at Sydney Cove on 26 January 1788, and the British Crown Colony of New South Wales was formally promulgated on 7 February 1788. Further Crown Colonies were established in Van Diemen's Land (now known as Tasmania) in 1803; Swan River Colony (now known as Western Australia) in 1828; South Australia in 1836; Victoria in 1851; and Queensland in 1859. The six colonies federated in 1901 and the Commonwealth of Australia was formed as a Dominion of the British Empire.

We are NOT British! I am Australian and my blood is Irish and Scottish. So don't insult me or my kin. We forget nothing! We remember England's mass genocide of the indigenous people of Australia and the brutal treatment of our Irish ancestor's. We are predominantly Irish by the way, with the highest content of Irish descent in the world, second only to Ireland itself. We couldn't give a f**k who's head is on the money. We do not acknowledge the queen in our hearts. That's the government. The Australian people are more akin to the likes of NED KELLY! That's who we class as our hero. That will give you an idea on our views and how we were treated by the English establishment. Go watch "The Nightingale" That is a very accurate depiction of early Australian life. It will show you the kind of horror's that the Irish and Indigenous people suffered at the hands of the English. FACT!!!
