While I absolutely hate how this has turned out, I'm not sure if opening committee memos is the right way to go. That would most likely just make people not throw out wild ideas that they might get called on maybe even years after the idea was thrown out. The whole discussion on gender eligibility would probably become muted as you can't tell where things will go and if you're going to end up on the wrong side of history. I think it is wild that someone can throw such strong accusations (may just as well be true or not) and have zero backing. PDGA is just such a mess right now.

@jannejaakkola5836 the PDGA can't release the notes from the meeting because Jennie and Herzog buried it. Laura hijacked the meeting, and it was all a rally for trans. Any decenting voices didnt feel comfortable speaking up and the regular leadership from the PDGA wasn't present. Nor was any of the women on the committee who stood up at the Preserve.

@@jannejaakkola5836Perhaps not a full transcript, but I feel like some additional transparency is needed. Right now it just seems like they’re throwing spaghetti at the wall to see what sticks without getting proper input from the players. The pdga needs a massive overhaul in leadership and policy. The point of the pdga is to grow the sport, not alienate whole countries just when it’s starting to gain traction. It’s does sound like the lady did breach the contract, but that should’ve never even been in the contract to begin with. I agree, the meetings should be recorded and open to members. Technically the pdga was within their rights to kick her out, but when 2 countries pulled out of the pdga, they should’ve reinstated her and or worked with these countries to come to an agreement!!!!! I would be interested to know what the PDGA policy is regarding meeting minutes though. Seeing as we are entitled to view any board meeting minutes, and any committee of the PDGA is technically functioning on their behalf and therefore on behalf of the members, I would have thought the minutes of those discussions should be made available. Having served on sports boards this was part of our charter to ensure transparency and accountability of the board and their representatives to the members.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but a committee within the PDGA can only make recommendations to the PDGA Board of Directors, and cannot autonomously make changes to policy. Bringing the public into committee meeting would be a junk show, which is why the PDGA Board of Directors reviews all of the reports from it's various committees during their regular monthly meeting, and has a link to all of their regular meeting minutes on the PDGA website. The Board of Directors and the PDGA in general is getting screamed at from all sides on this issue, it would be great if we could give them a little patience. It would also be great if they would just put more of the PDGA's hot button decisions to a vote within the membership. Rosemary did breach her non-nondisclosure agreement, but the PDGA probably made a mistake by removing removing her from the Women's Committee. No good came from that. Although, I think that we should remember that Rosemary forced their hand by going straight to social media to slap the committee with a "gotcha" quote. It all seems a bit reactionary, but either way it's up to PDGA members to pay attention and raise their voices based on the facts. All the same, it's up to the PDGA to stop making silly decisions and give more power to their members, regardless of the politics.

To paraphrase George Carlin, it’s a special club and you ain’t in it. I think the 2 issues at play here must be separated when people discuss them for the sake of responsibility in civil discourse. Topic 1 is the removal of the Belize rep due to violation of amorphous unattributed rule breaking. I think that is a very good point that more transparency is needed and more of what is being discussed and decided in the names of the membership should be made available for membership access. Obviously there is a line that must be observed so there isn’t so much transparency that it turns into a free for all food fight. Having transcripts/minutes of various committee meetings available within X days with any votes on policy changes discussed held in >X days would probably be sufficient. Of course changing how thing work with a freshly re-elected and emboldened Nate Sepp Blatter Heinhold still holding court will be difficult. Special thanks to the 80%+ of membership who chose not to vote for gifting us that reality. I think related to topic 1, based on what was described in this video, I think the PDGA screwed the pooch on this one. Rule one on removal/termination as punishment in today’s hyperlitigious social media clickbait frenzy knee jerk society is to document everything and provide that documentation (at minimum what rule/policy/regulation was violated) at the time you make any sort of official announcement or press release. It may be unnecessary from a legal exposure stance, but in the court of public opinion it must be done otherwise something can happen like, I dunno, losing a massive membership affiliation in 2 days flat. Topic 2 is the transgender policy issue and this is where so many people are completely missing the boat. As shocking as this obviously is to many people, State and Federal LAW supersedes company policy when the two are at odds. It doesn’t matter if 99% of the people working for the company like or are unaffected by the policy. If the policy violates State law, particularly language in a State Constitution, the company’s policy is deemed illegal. The premise that MUST be held is the state recognizes X person as [insert gender/sex/etc]. Denying that person access to access/participation/employment as they are recognized by the state is in violation of the law. That has to be the starting point. Operating within the framework of the laws is far far more important than the popular opinion of an objectively small number of people who object regardless of the law. The PDGA has the unenviable job of splitting the baby on this issue. It will require serious people in the room discussing it who are mindful of the legal obligations companies have in various states. I do not know if the committee rep from Belize would qualify as a serious person or not (generally people who use phrases like “transgender agenda” are moving the needle to the less than serious side).

Sounds alot like the International director of the pdga's communications on this topic. Actuality almost verbatim. Pushing Tournament Directors to look into local laws to prevent men from playing in women's divisions is not the solution. That is forced inclusion from a governing body that claims they don't want trans women in the female division.

The situation you describe is disheartening. Disc golf began as a fun sport which eventually became a revenue generating activity. As time went on, it became a real money earner. The more money is involved, the more the big money interests begin taking over and forcing their viewpoints on the participants. If Natalie Ryan was such a threat to FPO, she would have placed higher than 16 at Ledgestone. It would be so much better if you would let trans athletes participate and let the chips fall where they may. I doubt Kristin Tattar is worried about "unfair" ability by other participants. Keep up posted on your findings and opinions.

I don't think the rule is about Natalie. What if a trans woman who has great form at 6"4 fits into the third tier of eligibility throwing 430 stock hyzer? That would break the FPO courses.

Still taking money from female players. Natalie has won a number of events and placed high in a many others, and this directly affects the earnings of the females in the division. Female divisions were created to protect women from unfair competition. That said, this is more about what could happen in the future than what's happening now. To be clear, these are males playing in a female division.

I agree that the minutes should be public, transparency is an important part of keeping power accountable.. Does Belize Disc Golf have their minutes that led to this decision available? All this being said it's pretty obvious that a lot of the discussion around trans women in sports is dog whistling for trans hate. You don't have to scroll down for long in the comments before people are saying that trans people are insane. I don't know what the solution is to the question of who can compete in what divsion but the inhumane way people are talking about trans people is a much much bigger issue.

So you are saying that because the majority of people disagree.. The MAJORITY.... that the bigger "issue" is that the majority is inhumane? Not that the minority is insane? The so called bigger issue is that the majority live in reality and wish to keep humanity.. humanity?? How is that inhumane? To me.. Inhumane is being encouraged to do things to your body..thinking that it's okay to play god.. altering your humanity.. only causing more damage to yourself and those around you. If you want to play god.. By all means.. Go ahead. It's your prerogative.. But don't expect everyone to just bow down to you. You my play god.. But you are not God.

It all comes down to money. The PDGA doesn't have the money to fight men playing in women's protected divisions. As long as men have money behind them to fight for the right to play in women's divisions this nonsense will continue. There's a huge difference between biological sex and gender identity. It's time for the courts to make those definitions clear.

@@belizediscgolf and you can start your own NBA, MLB, NFL, whatever you want in Belize. That’s like saying I’m starting a new club team in southern Michigan. NOOONE cares. Grow the sport as big as you can, it will never be what the powers in the USA build. It’s all about the money. Plenty of people play disc-golf without the pdga and money. But to grow the sport it needs money. Grass roots are great but ask the touring guys from 15 years ago how it was. No standards, poor tournament showing:payouts, lack of females in the sport, etc. Disc golf needs people who are willing to invest, that is the difference from 15 years ago. More money means more people, courses, tournaments, and accessories. People like Natalie Ryan and Lying and stealing purses from real women of the pdga and now with his pro bono lawyers are stealing from the PDGA.
