To be honest, this thing is CHEAP for the extra value it could bring to someone who needs it. I’m impressed! Let’s say you’re doing presentations or teaching online, this would allow you to widen your available workspace significantly. Pair it with an AW for control and you can stream very high quality stuff if you use the rear camera. If apps can add the possibility to lock the tracking to a specific object as well, then that would open up even more possibility’s for the presenter moving between different layouts in a room without having the camera following a person. Say that it would track my MacBook in the shot. If I present one product on a table, then bring the MB to another table to present a second product, it would stay locked to the table during the presentation and I could have it focus on the product rather than me. This is very cool!

Does this work outside of camera apps? For example, could you watch KZbin and have it keep the screen facing you as you move around the kitchen? I’ve thought about picking up an iSteady just for this purpose lol

It didn't get any stage time at WWDC! Apple only really talked about DockKit in a session for devs then there were no products until now! Totally flew under the radar for most.

Nice video! Just picked it up today at the store and I’m really digging it. Unfortunately, it’s too bad that it doesn’t support cinematic mode on iPhone. It only functions in regular video mode. Do you have the same problem?

I had no idea DockKit existed. So I learned something today. And I'm very intrigued as to whether I can find a use case for it. The main concern I have is that it can't be used to detect a subject if the subject is out of the camera's field of view. Or can it? Can it use the reverse camera on my iPhone to detect motion or subjects of interest? Which model of iPhone has the widest field of view? Or are they all the same?

Thank you for this video. I would definitely use it. Especially on a tripod and using my watch to turn on & off video during a contra dance. Tight now I have a bunch of static videos from the stage where I’m playing & can’t stop to adjust the camera because the dancer moved out of the video. This would be so valuable.

I wonder what if u want to use this stand just to use your phone and not opening a camera since I don’t have videocalls that often or record video but I move around my desk a lot so I’m always moving my phone stand all the time, can this track you without opening the camera?

The big difference is Center Stage crops in the camera to adjust for your placement where this actually moves. Center Stage is limited to the field of view directly in front of the camera. this moves 360-degrees and both up and down.

Got it today, sadly found it won’t allow you to choose which face to focus when there’s multiple people in the camera, it randomly jump between people when someone gets in the frame😢 official manual doesn’t have anything about it, might get it returned tomorrow 😢

Way too expensive, but does it follow voice or faces? Does it focus on the person that’s talking or does it just try to get every face into the frame?

Can you change the tracking zone or does it just keep you centered in frame? I like the DJI Pocket 3 because it has 6 tracking zones. It will let you choose to keep the subject in left, center, or right of frame and also top or bottom of frame while in landscape.

It's not cheap for sure. But Pivo, the industry leader, starts at like.. $129 I think? But goes up to $299. This is right there in the middle.

It's definitely not cheap but not far off from others in the market. The most popular today is the Pivo which starts at $129 and goes up to $299. Belkin can also charge more when there are no alternatives at the moment!
