You most certainly can.

This router will get around 140 mbps wirelessly if you have security turned off. With security on however, forget it, it only reaches 25 to 30 mbps. Also if you connect a USB drive you will only get 18 to 25 mbps, connecting the same drive directly to my computer and I get 250 mbps. The processing power of the unit is not good enough to deliver anywhere near a decent performance with security on and the supplied storage manager software is very very slow. I am returning mine.

can this unit be placed horizontally or is the desk stand permanently fixed to the unit? i dont like how most N routers have internal antennas nowadays. Id much rather have external antennas, but for my setup placing it flat is much better and more stable than placing it vertically

I am having problems with the range for my BTHomeHub and don't know what router would help the best. The BTHomeHub is on the ground floor and works fine there but connection level from the second floor and loft are quite poor, and it tends to drop a lot of times each day. I brought a Belkin router different to this one and it only really improved the wireless range to the first floor. What would you suggest to get a better signal on the second floor and loft?

It is not really down to the router. More the speed, quality of your connection and distance to the exchange.

I have a DS Lite, so WPA on my computer is not compatible. The thing is- I have WPA, not WEP, and I don't plan on changing to WEP, because it might mess up my internet settings. I've looked into getting a WiFi USB connector I seen ( Belkin F6D4050ed Wireless N150 USB Adapter. ) Now what I want to know is will this help me get on the internet giving me the Wi-Fi I need ( Even though my netgear wireless router is a WPA ) and if so will it affect my internet on my laptop that Im using now.

You are probably further away from the telephone exchange than them. However, Orange estimated a 2mbit line to my house and I often got much faster. It's a shame Orange sucks so it has became slower and slower, unlikley to even play KZbin anymore! Crap.

Don't buy a Belkin anything... Belkin is a computer accessory company that makes laptop cases, pda covers, mice, and little garbage accessories like that. You don't want to buy your networking equipment from such a manufacturer (I know, I did the first time around), mistake. Get something from a company that makes nothing but Networking equipment... Dlink, Netgear, Cisco, etc. Also, don't be fooled by bells and whistles. My DLG-4300 is rock solid and I haven't had to reboot it in YEARS.

linksys is the way to go because belkin has random disconnections. also linksys is made by cisco...the people who are genius with networking and internet
