As a Huey pilot for 16 years, this sound is the greatest, thousand of times I did this in States and Germany, good and bad weather, sunny and foggy, day and night. Medevac was the most challenging taking off with short notices just time to check weather and take off, thank goodness they finally developed some great NVG's that expand night flights capabilities in rescues. Thanks for posting, kudos to the flight crew, too. Dustoff 44

When you're doing top dressing or loads in one of these with these do you have to look a little back more down for point of reference than the F mondels, Dunno how to explain it cause my employer said the 205 was a little different than the 204 C/F model in terms of looking at where your load is.

As an infantryman in the Army back in the 80s this sound was very special to me. It was the sound of a Medevac helicopter that might save my life one day. I love those Huey's, there's no sound like it in the world. I missed it.

I've worked on many T-53L13's while in the Army even though the majority of my labor were attributed to the T-55L712. I was assigned an Ch-47 unit and co'd for a huey unit right next door. You are right, the sound was epic. The exciter could clearly be heard.

Love that sound. Now I know why they call them "choppers!"
@@mariaguadalupemartinezvill8208 oh you think you are speaking english right?
@daveblevins33222 жыл бұрын
The term "chopper" was created by some journalist looking for sensationalism in his article. It was not created by a pilot or manufacturer. The correct terminology would be rotorcraft. Helicopter is a specific type of rotorcraft. Gyrocopter, Gyroplane, etc. Kinda like airplane/fixed-wing. Single engine, multi engine, turboprop, jet, amphibian, seaplane.......... Ain't that some bullshit 🐂💩💩 !!!

I had no idea as well. Theres some unbelievable mathematics around that. Theres a book by Prosser, explaining rotary wing flight in terms of mathematics. I have a masters degree in mathematics and most of it is over my head.
@stalinsmyth83704 жыл бұрын
It wasnt until cyclic pitch was understood and implemented when helicopters controls finally worked together. ARTHUR Young and others realized this.
@Betterifitsfree4 жыл бұрын
According to the old school Bell engineers, the big culprit was vibration and resonance on the early 204/205's. 50% of a helicopters empty weight is rotating mass going in different directions compared to a fix wing where it is less than 10%.

This was obviously shot in a cold climate and helos love cold dense air, which gives them better lift. There have been cases of helos dropping suddenly when flying in hot dry air. That's one of the reasons they can't be used to pluck people off the tops of burning buildings.
