The projector was threaded incorrectly. From the second sprocket the film must go down to the sound drum, then to the third sprocket all the way to the takeup reel. Threaded incorrectly in the video. The film path is from the first sprocket to the gate, from the gate to the second sprocket, from the second sprocket to the sound drum, from the sound drum to the third sprocket. The film is, thereby, maintained "tight" between the second sprocket, the sound drum, and the third sprocket, and this results in the film maintaining the same tension going reverse as going forward. This is quite similar to a "Davis 'tight loop' drive" (Bell Telephone Labs and Western Electric Company, 1947), except that the Davis drive also includes a viscous "damper". Yet, the Bell & Howell drive was implemented 10 years before the Davis drive. The main difference is the Bell & Howell drive has such a short loop, compared to the Davis drive, that a "damper" is not required.

And for rewinding, the gears are supposed to be engaged. Those are multiplier gears that increase the speed of the reel. The reverse switch should remain on forward.

I can't figure out how to thread this model behind the lens. In other models the lens pulls out or rotates to allow easy access of the film but in this one I haven't figured it out and have no manual.

@@Moskeneer The gate lever is behind the lens, and yes it can be awkward to reach. I found it so when I was a new projectionist, but quickly mastered it. The lever moves the lens carrier forward or back without disturbing the focus setting. To focus you turned the lens, and could use the little thumbscrew to lock in the focus. I seldom had to touch it, and never the framing.

machine. The halogen bulbs work mostly with 4.5 V. Then a los of modifications in the optical must be made. The projector has light condensers that you will not need with the newer lamp, but there will be a conflict with the distancie to the objective. I have 2 of those machines, and they work like a charm the way they were originally designed
