Nothing brings a smile to my face like hearing the crystal tones of the bellbird’s song. They give me so much joy.

A beautiful bird. As mentioned, it also causes a lot of damage. It's so aggressive in its defence of trees (for its addiction to feeding on lerp) that the psyllids gradually kill the trees. Bells don't usually eat the psyllids in large amounts so the trees grow sick and die. A bit like a farmer over-grazing cattle on the same paddock. Check out the amazing book, Where Song Began by Tim Low.

Yes indeed. A very fascinating species and no doubt about the damage that they cause.

Because we clear vast areas of habitat, and we continue to do so despite knowing full well the impact it has on native species and ecological processes, then it wouldn't be a so called pest nor would we notice the "damage" it is accused of causing.

Wonderful footage Tim and an informative little doco on Bell Miners. We really enjoy hearing and filming these birds when we come across a colony on our walks. Thanks for sharing!

If you live in NSW and travel between Grafton and Glen Innes on the Gwydir Highway, you will pass through the Washpool national park as you near the top of the range. It's well worth driving with the windows down because the Bellbirds are just spectacular. Such a beautiful sound.

This is even better than a National Geographic narration. Quite intriguing to learn about the many species of birds of the whole world. And bell miner birds are one of the unusual I've never heard of until now in this video.

I’ve tried to identify them when I hear the ping but yeah you’re right they’re well blended. Hear some out the back of kings langley, Blacktown. It’s even cool watching noisy minor swooping other birds. I love their eyes and cheekiness

They are absolutely brilliantly camouflaged, particularly against the sky.

Never saw this beautiful bird before. Heard the sound in documentaries but never saw the actual animal, such a peculiar sound! Thought it was some kind of insect...boy was I wrong🤣

I can see why you thought it was an insect. We have some weird insects here and many are quite loud.

The gospel (good news) for lost souls: Jesus Christ is the only way to Heaven, there is no other way! You only have to believe in what Jesus Christ did for you on the cross at Calvary, He died for the sins of the whole world and that's including you, so why not live for Him? 1 Corinthians 15:1-4, saves lost souls when you truly believe from your heart. Jesus Christ paid the death penalty in our stead and nailed it to the cross. Romans 6:23 - For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Ephesians 1:13, saved and sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise. Heaven and Hell are real, literal places, there is no in-between. Choose your eternal destination for your souls wisely. Time is running out!!
