Rob, thank you! That makes me feel better, I was worried it was too long, but couldn’t cut any more out of the video with good conscience. Also, I’ve been wearing the Royal the last couple days since it’s been so hot here (105°), and will say after wearing a little more it does breathe better than the Bell, but that’s at the expense of less padding I believe.

Thanks for the informative review. I’ve been looking at these models, and I really like the overall style of the Royal helmet, but I was concerned whether it would offer sufficient protection. I also wondered about the profile of each and how they compared and how they looked on. I like that they’re not too bobbly. You covered all the features well and any questions that I had. I’m also very thorough in researching potential purchases, which sometimes can border on OCD, but regardless of whether my obsession with details makes a significant improvements in the quality of life, I’ve learned a lot about different products and items which I wouldn’t have known otherwise, and for that I’m grateful. You never know when this wealth of random knowledge will come in handy. I own a Bell which was expensive, and it’s very good quality. I can always wear it on longer trips and high speeds. Most of my riding is in town however at lower speeds, below 40, so after viewing this, I’d be comfortable getting the Royal for daily, in-town, shorter rides. It will probably feel better in warmer weather, as well, as it’s not as tight. My Bell is also very tight getting on and off, but I’m glad for that for highway speeds where it’s critical for your protective gear to stay on. Both looked good, so you can’t go wrong. Thanks again!
@PottersWork7 ай бұрын
I would say I toe that line of OCD as well when trying to make a decision, so we are the same in that regard lol. I still have both these helmets and I will say that I wear the Bell more often, but the Royal is cooler in the summer. The Royal also doesn’t have as much space between my nose and the face of the helmet, so a face/chin impact might cause it to contact your nose more easily. I’m glad you found the review helpful, I was worried it was too drug out even though I was trying to be thorough!

I have Biltwell Gringos, but I recently bought a Bell Moto III. It indeed was an ear puller the first time I put it on, but once it was on the fit very good.
@PottersWork2 жыл бұрын
How do you think the Gringos compare to your Bell? The Gringo was one I had on my list as well when I was looking. I kind of want some Biltwell Moto 2.0 goggles, they look pretty slick with their retro look. And much cheaper than the 100% Barstow goggles.
@frslas2 жыл бұрын
@@PottersWork I like the Gringo helmet and I have always used Biltwell goggles. The Gringo goes on and off much easier than the Bell, but the Bell is quieter. Both are good helmets and the Gringo is now DOT/ECE like the Bell.

@@frslas, thanks for the info! I actually like a helmet that is not too quiet so I can hear my bike…it’s nice to hear if something is wrong before it gets too bad. The Bell definitely is quiet enough I can’t hear much from my bike.

Thinking about getting the Royal Ho1 for summer. I have a shoei currently, but man in this summer heat it sucks. This style looks a lot more breathable. Does it feel like you could trust it on highway speeds?
@PottersWork5 ай бұрын
I would say personally, I think it would be better than nothing obviously at highway speeds, but I myself would want something more substantial. There’s not a ton of padding inside compared to the Bell, the bell def feels much safer if you were going to take an impact.

@PottersWork2 жыл бұрын
Hello Calin! Are you asking about the Royal Helmet? If so, a medium MIGHT fit, but it’s hard to say without having one on hand. The large definitely doesn’t fit as snug as the medium Bell, but it’s not really loose either. If your head is a bit smaller than mine, it might be worth a shot to try the medium. If you do, let me know how it fits!

The royal has Removable and Washable Liners? and the space for speakers?
@PottersWork Жыл бұрын
The liner seems to be only partially removable…there are snaps on the side and cheek pads, but the rear padding seems to be stuck pretty good. I would say there is room for speakers for sure, at least with my head there is plenty of room. It doesn’t fit as tight as the Bell, which I’d say would be tight getting speakers in that helmet.

Jack, The royal helmet has a weird style push pin clip that holds them in, and the bell has snap in. The snaps don’t appear to be in the same location either. So I would say no, without heavy modification. Hope that helps!

you think the royal h 01 is safe?
@PottersWork2 жыл бұрын
In my non-expert opinion, I think it would be safe at lower speeds. There is a substantial difference in padding between the two, with the Bell having quite a bit more. The Bell feels more substantial too while wearing it. We bought the Royal for my son to wear while riding his Honda Ruckus, and it’s top speed is 35-40mph. I will tell you if he was going any faster I’d put him in the Bell. Again though, I’m not an expert on helmet safety ratings. Hope that is helpful!
