Bell Ringing at St Andrew, Holborn, London

The rounds before, a brief clip from, and a visiting band ringing after a quarter peal on this London eight.
Cast in 1961 by Mears & Stainbank of Whitechapel, they are from an era of post-War London rings recast by Whitechapel, including St Clement Danes (1955), St Mary-le-Bow (1956), Jewry (1957), and St Vedast, Foster Lane (1960). As do these, they sound absolutely fantastic, particularly inside the tower. They handle reasonably, although the front bells are rather flighty owing to a long draught!
The bells replace a heavier octave (tenor 26-3-2), which were destroyed in 1941, when the church was gutted in an air raid. A history of the bells in the tower can be found on Dickon Love's excellent website, hyperlinked below.

What a great sounding ring of eight! Yet not one of the famous London rings. A shame I have never ventured there to ring so far.

@@simonbellringer What makes them difficult to get? Busy church? Ringers / Church officers not cooperating? Bells believed to be unsafe so the guild gets really snooty about them being rung?
