The Dutch Tenors performed Bella Ciao on the Friesian Proms in January 2023 in Leeuwarden, The Netherlands. Bella Ciao became more world famous by the hit series 'La Casa de Papel' on Netflix. Originally it is an Italian protest folk song from the late 19th century. The Dutch Tenors performed the song with an amazing orchestra, over 20 horses for an audience of over 10.000 spectators.

@smitat1254 It's an old Italian song telling a story about going out to fight against an oppressor or invader knowing it will mean death. The song has been associated with "the left" and revolution against racism/oppression for a long time (predating WWII).

It was created by the Italian female workers of the North "Le mondine" in the late 1800s and retold by Partisans in the 1930s as an opposition to Mussolini, a socialist leader from the far left. A socialist. Like Hitler, like Stalin, like Mao, like Franco, like Chavez, like Castro. Also. nothing of this has to do with racism. Please don't spread random misinformation about the historical events my great grandfather fought against and so many of my countrymen died in.

@@undertheneonlights To describe Hitler and Mussolini as 'left wing' is both disingenuous and inaccurate. Despite the naming of their representative political parties their stated aims misrepresent everything either man actually stood for. Had either party succeeded without progressing to a total war situation I doubt any truly left-wing government of any foreign country would abide by their practise. Fascism is a polar opposite to what any left-wing policy should be.
