How do you use the oven?
@AGDinCA2 жыл бұрын
@@dianneeagle4686 I place my fabric in a deep foil baking dish. Next, I cover the fabric in ice. You can sprinkle the dye powder before you apply the ice or after, depending on the results you are looking to achieve. Then, I bake until the ice is completely melted. Sometimes, if I sprinkled the dye first, I'll find that the dye has not completely saturated into the fabric, so I will add more ice and put it back in the oven. *The dish has to be deep because of the amount of muck water created. You may even have to drain a bit sometimes.* But, generally speaking, I place my ice-covered fabric in a 150°F oven and let bake for about 30 minutes. Then, I check on it to see if it needs more ice, draining, or if it's done. If done, I turn off the oven and just let the garment sit in the muck water in the dish for as long as I feel like, or at least until it's cooled. Finally, I rinse as normal. In total, the fabric probably spends about 2 hours in the oven, including cooling time.

They take a lot of patience and skill. Which I have neither of for the “honeycomb” I don’t think it’s a secret at all though… they’re time consuming so nobody wants to make them. 🥸 All the masters show it on their social media. I might try to make one eventually. It’s basically a tiny pleat fold versus the airplane fold and then tied up like a mandala. Sinew lines flat across the top of the pleats and the X’s down the sides. Then dye it in a DNA pattern. If you have Facebook, Instagram & TikTok look up Justin Biffer and Steven J, they share a lot. Jake Roelofs is infamous for it, but I don’t think he will teach anything. Dyeinglightcreations I’ve seen on TikTok and Instagram opening them. All of the guys I mentioned are very talented. If you look at their ties you might be able to see what I mean about the sinew. Best of luck!! ❤️🌈

What's the use of soda wash?
@BelladonnaDyesCo Жыл бұрын
Procion Fiber Reactive Dye must be 'fixed' (made permanent) with soda ash on cotton and other cellulose fibers. It's a mild alkali that enables the reaction between the dye and the cellulose fibers at lower temperatures, causing them to "become one", and the reason Fiber Reactive Dye is so permanent. How much you use is normally a function of the amount of water, not the amount of fabric or dye. Roughly 1 oz. per gallon of water is needed when garment dyeing or 1 cup per gallon of water as a pre-soak when tie-dyeing. If you don't use enough, the dye won't yield full strength. A pH of 10.5 is ideal. ❤️🌈
