I don’t remember. It’s been years. I would have to go back and watch it. Whatever I showed is exactly how I made it. Typically I only add the black to one side but sometimes I add it to both. Like I said, it’s been so long for this one I don’t know. Did I show adding dye to both sides?? Now you have me curious. 🕷️❤️🌈

I really like this. Those colors are WOW! How long did the dye sit? Is that what makes the color so vibrant? I use dharma, but they are not this vibrant.

Thank you! It batched for 24 hours in a 70 degree room. The warmer the better because dye and soda ash can only react with each other for a certain amount of time. After 48 hours the process is done... so the colors are bright at 24 hours with heat. Turquoise MUST get 24 hours with “normal” batching practices. I hope this helps. 😁❤️🌈

Dharma dyes, used properly are as vibrant as you can get! It’s down to skill and experience in usage. There are several other Procion MX suppliers of course but it’s unlikely their dyes are any more vibrant as they all share the same chemistry.

I think the spider has eyes looking down. The colors are electric. So different than the stuff we were doing in the 60’s.

I notice all your red dyes give you issues with the nozzle clogging. Is there a reason why?? I love this shirt. I’m going to make some for my niece and nephew.

Some dyes don’t dissolve as easily as others. Also, if they have an asterisk they require more dye. The more dye the thicker it is… I also find Lemon Yellow to not want to dissolve easily. The kiddos love the “spider” shirts. ❤️🌈

The process I use is explained in the tutorials. Soda ash soak, then dye, 70° F, batch 24-48 hours. As far as I know this is the process that needs to be followed for procion dye. Soda ash is a must.
