Thank you for not being gender-specific! Idk why people think men are safe under the same circumstances but it’s ridiculous! they’re not, and the statistic that young women are targeted more by predators than young men _doesn’t_ mean men are safe from predators or safe in general. Ugh. 🙄

He came into one of mums open homes about 10 years ago when she was a real estate agent!!! She knew straight away something was strange about him as he kept asking her to take him up to the master bedroom and saw he had some strange materials or tools protruding out of his jean pockets. I was with her at the time so mum thought quickly and told him she had to take me home to my dad and put me in the car, but he left. She made a report straight after but the record was not found. Perth is such a small city where everyone knows everyone and you'd be surprised about how many people knew of him or worked with him who all had their suspicions.

People have certain habits. If they are a bed maker, then it wouldn’t help to know if they came home or not to see an unmade bed. But there are some people who don’t make their beds first thing. My cats are still sleeping when I get up so I don’t have a chance to make mine until evening. Lol. If I have company coming I of course boot the cats, but usually I let them sleep and make it when I come home so I can slip in to a noice cost bed later.

i’ve noticed australian police are always super on top of it in all of the cases i’ve researched! i actually made a comment about it in this video but cut it out in case people got upset hahah

Living in USA and being a citizen but not born here , I can say with all guarantee that our justice system sucks so bad and a lot of cases are cold because nothing was done when there should have been A LOT done
@dianalopez95205 жыл бұрын
Young adults are basically labeled as runaways and little is done for them in regards to abductions because the police throughly think since they are over 18 they can go off on their own free will and they don’t stay investigating until it much too late. It’s heart breaking for the families and for me as a criminal justice major here in the states. I really want to be a FBI profiler so I can bring some closure to the families of lost ones that need it so bad.

i think it's also became in places like australia, particularly in perth, things like these aren't common and when it does happen, everyone is shocked and confused on how something like this could happen in such a place,

Try the South African police. Here, you'll be at the police station trying to report someone until you forgive them. Then you leave...and no one gets arrested.

I was the same age as Sarah Spiers at the time and used to work in Bayview Terrace when all this was happening...really scary times as a young woman. I’m so relieved that the killer has been found and I can only hope that Sarah’s family finally get to lay her to rest properly one day.

Can you do a mystery Monday on sol pais? My school and many other schools had shut down yesterday because of then huge manhunt for her. What's interesting is that the gov told that she was found dead naked and drowned in a lake, they then said she was found and apprehended and later said she was dead from a self inflicted gunshot wound. There's a ton of other things that don't add up about the stories

Perth was considered safe back then. I use to walk from Claremont to Fremantle all the time on my own in the wee hours of the morning and thought nothing of it. I live in Perth and this time was truely shocking.

Perth was really safe back then- he was our second serial killer. In fact Perth never locked it’s doors until 1958 when Eric Edgar Cooke terrorised homes in Perth. It was SUPER safe and trusting. So the friends had no reason to bodyguard and baby them like that. Also there’s no point critiquing innocent peoples past actions. Criticise the asshole that committed the crimes not the friends who are grieving.

It was a different time. Mobile phones were giant bricks and people weren't nearly as aware of these sorts of things. And the vast majority of time nothing would happen. Its just a case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. But it's always good to be careful whether you are a girl or guy because bad things can happen to anyone.

I went to the line dancing club that she was last seen at. It had only just happened when I joined, and didn't realise it was that same club until I asked why the men would always walk the ladies to their car and they told me. It's such an ordinary place, so freaky to think what happened.

@taylaw80595 жыл бұрын
its so cool that you're finally doing an australian story especially one from Perth!! my mum actually knew one of the victims that was murdered and she always tells me about it as they were neighbours and were around the same age so they sometimes went out to Claremont together which is really scary to think about. Someone i'm very close with also knew a murderer involved in another infamous Perth murder case, Dante Wyndham Arthurs (google it if you havent heard about what he did) she also witnessed his arrest when he got caught a few hours later... these cases really hit close to home for me and they're part of the reason why i am now studying criminology at uwa in Perth with aims to work in forensic psychology

awesome you did this case bella! i live in perth and i still remember how even years after the kidnappings it affected how women would go about their lives. i was pretty young but my parents wouldn't even allow me to go to claremont for the royal show because of it and those abductions happened years before. it always stayed with me and i'm sure this case has stayed with many other women from perth too
