@a1ntcry1noveru2 жыл бұрын
Thank you, this was my only critique. Not a survivor myself (thankfully), but I kept cringing at the word "relationship". Relationship implies willing consent. At her age she simply could not consent to any sort of relations, sexual or what have you, with an adult. AND being his daughter, I'm sure she would absolutely not want to consent this. And if it continued passed her reaching the age of consent, it is because she was groomed, thus still not really a willful consent situation, but one of manipulation, power imbalance, innocence corrupted, and a warped mindset. However you spin it, NOT a "relationship" whatsoever.

whoa. you're the first person on KZbin that I've ever seen do a video on this case. I was born and raised in Russellville, AR after all this happened, but I grew up hearing about it because my grandparents lived up the road from where this all took place in Dover. I don't know if it was when it happened, but I do know my aunt and uncle went to high school with the daughter. there's a book about everything called Zero at the Bone. I just asked my mom and she said she actually lived with her mom and stepdad when it happened and they worked nights and happened to drive by when the cops were there. I was really, really young when I was told about this, but my step-grandpa still lived in the area and told me about it. horrible, horrible case and so unbelievably sad. RG Simmons was an evil, evil person. the children and grandchildren did not deserve that, they did nothing wrong.

This was really hard to listen to... His abusive behaviors towards his children and wife was hard, but when his killing spree began I was listening in shock... I know that you and other True Crime channels report in a way where crime scene photos and the harder information like injury damage and autopsy results etc., is kept out of your videos - be it out of respect for the victims and their families or respect for the viewers and our mental health and well-being or because KZbin won't monetise the video if certain content is included... However, when it's an especially heavy case like this, I always think of you - if I feel it's hard for me to listen to, I can only imagine how hard it is for you to have to research it and see crime scene photos and videos and read the information in great detail - and I'm so deeply grateful to you for your dedication to your channel and what you have to go through to get the information to us ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ I can even tell on your face when some crimes are especially hard for you to report and you get through it professionally 🤗💜🤗 I hope that you have your own processes in place for self care and support - I believe that for emotionally open and intuitive people, like many True Crime channel owners seem to be, this work can take its toll, especially around Xmas and new years - and I believe that self care and emotional support is vital 💜💜💜💜💜💜 Lol sorry, not trying to "mum" you, I just feel that you give so much to us and you work hard and provide high quality and professional work - and we need to give back and show you that we care about you and that we 'see" you Bella, and that we are here, holding space for you and sending you love and blessings... ❤️❤️❤️Thank you for everything you do on your channel ❤️❤️❤️ I was so glad that no one claimed his body - he's so disgusting I don't even want to say his name!! What he did to his family and innocent children and the others who he believed in his distorted and delusional mind, had "wronged" him was shocking and heartbreaking... Especially what he did to his children 💔😭💔 I can't believe how easy it is for people to get guns in the USA either... I'm an Australian too and am so grateful for our gun laws!! I often go over in my mind in cases like this one and think about what would've made a difference to the outcome?? Or if anything would've made a difference because certain people are just wired to kill?? The psychology of these people and the dynamics that lead up to them doing what they did, fascinates me - and millions of others who are hooked on True Crime lol... Thank you Bella ❤️❤️❤️ you're one of my favourite content creators and I'm so grateful to you for all that you do to bring your amazing channel to us 💜💜💜🤗💜💜💜

I’m an American, and this is why it is so easy to get guns here: our constitution has amendments, which lay out some of our basic human freedoms in the United States. The second amendment, is the right to bare arms, for safety reasons. When we got our independence, we needed guns to rise up against the government, so we have them to keep us safe. The whole debate here, is some want it to be harder to obtains guns with background checks, but others want it to stay the same. It’s called an amendment because you can make amends to it, so some gun control would not be illegal, but others say differently.
@shannon-maree78393 жыл бұрын
@@benjaminpf0920 I understand that culturally we've both been bought up to hold different views on gun laws, and I respect that... And thank you for explaining this to me 💜 It's just so heartbreaking when senseless violence like this occurs, and I've noticed that with many gun related True Crime cases reported by KZbin content creators is that a lot of these people have nothing in their background that would've been a deterrent to buying guns to commit their crime because they've managed to fly under the radar for their whole life... I'm genuinely interested in your opinion on this case - do you see how anything could've been done differently legally in regards to gun laws to prevent this? Or was this always going to happen due to opportunity and access to guns? 💜

@Jessica-kw8no3 жыл бұрын
@@shannon-maree7839 its possible but that would be a bit difficult if the test is administered by a psychiatrist. It also makes the gun process lengthy, which would prevent people who act out of sudden rage. In the US, federally, as long as you are 18 and have a license you can purchase a firearm. Receiving the license is easy, just a few hour online training and a background check. Basically anyone can have a license, unless you have certain diagnosed mental illnesses or You’re a felon. I believe most states don’t even have a waiting period actually. So im 18, in Texas I could go buy a rifle and receive my license in 12 days (using a family member for reference). And if I already have my license then I could buy a gun whenever I want the same day. Wait periods reduce crime but Texas is adamant about having lose gun laws. We can carry them around in public too not even concealed.

It’s so crazy to me that he killed all his family members like that... called them one by one and strangled them, made them dig their own graves, then sat there in the house with their bodies and drank before going on another spree

I was 13 years old when this happened and I lived in Russellville. I had friends from my church youth group that went to the Dover school with some of the Simmons kids. They were never allowed to go to church. But a very popular Christian singer came to Russellville that summer or fall before the murders. My friend from Dover invited one of the Simmons girls. It might have been Loretta. She got saved at the Carmen concert. God really blessed her that night. A few weeks later she was dead. I also remember hearing some of my older school friends talk about driving out to the Simmons house. Yes, believe it or not, it was left completely open to anyone that wanted to drive out there in the woods. They all talked about how there were stains everywhere, and all of the Christmas presents were still there, and all the decorations were still up. Of course, people had spray painted all kinds of scary things on the walls too. I don't remember when, but finally someone came and bulldozed the property. I'm 45 years old now and I still think about it ever once in awhile. I remember how sad and angry everyone was. People felt guilty too for not knowing or doing something. We were so shocked too. Nothing like that ever happens in Pope County. Seeing my home town on the National News that night was really crazy. I do remember people talking about how many other people could have been killed or injured but for some reason they had just left Sinclair, or the Courthouse, or Taylor Oil... I'm very glad they put him to death so quickly. Swift justice is ok by me.

That was one really messed up case that blew my mind. Oh and Bella you have a voice I can actually listen to and not be annoyed with. This is definitely your calling. I have ADD really bad but I can pay attention to every single word you say. Thank you!

By the way, for anyone who wants to know, you can’t just walk into a Walmart and buy a gun anymore. It’s much more complicated than that, including a background check and a waiting period. Sometimes not complicated enough, but, you know, progress? 🤷🏼♀️

Exactly! Like this story was in the 80s! Regulations have changed.

Finally someone said it. Im honestly tired of foreigners assuming this and that when it comes to guns etc. From a case that happened in the 80s. I had to get a background check and wait a few months before i was able to get a handgun.

@@staciarenee2982 k but there's black market guns still and didn't a 13 year old accidentally kill her cousin than self? Shows how much gun safety America has lolll guns are still easy access, a background check and waiting list ain't enough lol anyone can have a clean background and just snap one day.... that's why people should have to ge their gun license plus the background check and a waiting list maybe even mental health evaluation
@staciarenee29822 жыл бұрын
@@asiramdoe3423 exactly, black market guns are the guns criminals have here. What's the point of taking guns away from law abiding citizens when the criminals still find a way to get them. You cannot own a gun if your a felon here. It's also NOT that easy to get firearms here anymore like it was back then. Also, if a kid gets thier hands on their parent's gun, that's the parents fault. Not because guns are legal to own here. That's like saying a kid stole their parents car and ran over someone. That's not because cars are dangerous. They are dangerous if you don't know how to use them. 95% of people who own guns and have children have them locked in a safe or put them in an area where kids can't get to them. My husband and i have 2. A 9mm handgun and 40. We have a safe built in our wall because we have 3 kids. You don't have to agree with them being legal, also, most Americans only have guns in their homes for protection. If I'm home with my kids and someone breaks into my house, what the hell do you expect me to do? Hide? Fuck no. I'm gonna blow their **** off. I feel safe with them. Plus, you ONLY hear the stories from the news if something bad happens, you don't hear the stories where people were saved bc of their guns. Protecting my house and family with lethal force is a right here. Sorry you don't understand that.

@@staciarenee2982 Guns don't protect you and that's the point.Are you going to ask the criminal to wait while you unlock your safe and load your gun or are you going to leave a loaded gun laying around your house?Either way you're screwed.

Things like this make me question why on EARTH guns are legal and even necessary in the USA. How haven’t they learned yet???

I will never forget this case!!! I was only 14 at the time, living in A little area just outside of Russellville. It was al over the news and papers for a long time. I remember being scared at night when I tried to fall asleep. I cannot even begin to imagine how his family members felt when they realized what he was about to do.
