My good friend from high school was murdered in 1999 here in Saco Maine. She was 15 years old her name was Ashley Oullette. There was a "True Crime Daily" episode on KZbin about her. Her killer still walks around free here Southern Maine. His name is Dan Sanborn. Cops claim there is not enough evidence. If you Google her name you'll find a bunch of articles on her. Her mother and sister deserve justice. This case is also linked to the disappearance of Tony Torres of Biddeford Maine. She was last person to see Ashley before she was raped and strangled and left dead in the middle of the road. Please consider this case. It's been 23 years since she was murdered. The fact that he remembers giving Brooke the shirt, hugging her, and telling her goodbye proves he wasn’t asleep during that interaction. Then he somehow immediately fell asleep after she left his room and entered a state of sleep deep enough to sleepwalk. Also, how convenient that he stayed asleep while brutally murdering someone who would have fought back and cut himself in the process only to wake up directly after. All while having no other incidents of sleepwalking around this time. Sure.
@kamaropayne52262 жыл бұрын
I had this exact same thought, and wondered if it’s physiologically possible for him to have been in a deep enough sleep to be ‘sleep walking’ only minutes after he was awake enough to say goodbye and point out where the tee shirt was. It kind of seems like he lured her there with the whole tee shirt thing, to make a final attempt at some kind of romantic display, then put on this whole act. Very weird, and SHAME on Hulu. But instead they declined (I know the reasons, but the reasons just don't make sense) and then make tiktok videos explaining what they could have explained in the film? It just doesn't make sense. For one it's not a documentary. It's not meant to be a factual record of events from both sides. It has an angle. It has a focus (which is the sleep walking defense). This is more of a show/movie etc... But second, they only focused on the defendant because he was using a defense that not many people have used. This film wouldn't have been produced had he used virtually any other defense other than "sleepwalking." That's why the film was made and received the publicity it did. Why was his phone never gone through in depth to verify his conversation and interactions with Brooke and his other friends the months before. So many questions that should have been asked so many missed opportunities to put more pressure on him during interrogations and in the trial itself. I just can’t believe how they brushed over the whole thing because they “knew” what happened so they didn’t care to dive deeper. And now we’ll probably never know and it’s just such a shame. But he's just a murderer lying about sleepwalking, which is d**kish because people do numerous things whilst actually sleepwalking, and someone could actually end up murdering someone completely unintentionally and actually would want help and to be monitored to protect people, but because of him obviously it ruins sleepwalking credibility because he's plainly lying. I’ve attacked my boyfriend twice in the night. Luckily, neither of us really got hurt but it shook us both up. It is the worst feeling to know you scared someone close to you and the guilt that comes with it is immense. I’ve also bolted right out of bed and smashed through a bathroom door at an Air BnB, ripping it off the hinges, and splitting my knee by slamming into the toilet. All while asleep. I woke up with the door on top of me and in a lot of pain. All that being said, I know the sleepwalking disorder is real, but I agree with OP. This man killed Brooke in cold blood. It’s so sad.

He more than likely had an ulterior motive of “sex”, and when she turned him down FOR A SECOND TIME , he flipped. His alcohol abuse morphs his reality. He probably got blacked out angry then realized how far down the rabbit hole he was…hence “I just remember standing over her bloody body” and then covering the body with a blanket is typically what murderers do to family-like victims. Nancy Grace is a commentator of true crime on television… not sure what network & I don’t care to look it up. 😂 She’s known for labeling Casey Anthony “tot mom” & gained a lot of popularity doing coverage on Scott Peterson. She definitely sensationalized already sensational cases. She has harsh/bad opinions a lot of the time & isn’t known to be super supportive of victims… but says she does all this for victims because she was one when her fiancé was murdered. She’s a polarizing figure for sure. “Distasteful” is the word I would to describe her. I’m sure I’m leaving a lot out, as I don’t follow her for that very reason.

So I've had problems sleepwalking, and a lot of people are scared of people who sleepwalk, but the thing is, when they are sleepwalking, they do things they do while they're awake because it's from muscle memory. For me, I drove my car and used 1/4 tank of gas (my parents took my keys at night after we found out) and I would eat a lot in my sleep. But unless he's out there killing people when he's awake, he's not going to kill someone while he's sleepwalking Also, I'm pretty sure people only sleepwalk when they are in the rem stage, hours after falling asleep.

I agree with most of this statement, but my son has been a sleepwalker since he was 2. And at 4 we caught him in the kitchen knife drawer trying to stab his leg. And he wouldn’t touch knives when he was awake, and he definitely wasn’t a murderer at 4 or now at 24. Yes I agree it’s mostly memory but nightmares play a big factor in it too. He also has driven in his sleep and woke up almost 100 miles from home lost where we had to go get him. It’s scary shit! It’s slowed down the older he’s gotten but he still has moments from time to time. We have a system now that alerts him multiple times before he can leave his house. But Randy was definitely not sleepwalking after 5 min! Impossible!

@@bibliofille_soph He had plenty of sleep due to the alcohol though, and brookes sister never witnessed him (or any signs of him) sleepwalking, it just seems so unlikely that the first time he sleep walked in possibly years he happens to murder the woman he invited into his home and had put indirect sexual advances on the night before. Hulu did asked them to be a part of it and they decided not to do it because they didn't want to revive/relive the trauma, but here they are doing the same but on their terms; but I do understand they not wanting to be part of something that tries to humanize the killer of their daughter/sister. Kendall acknowledge it at the end of this video. My brother was also killed, in June 2016 and even though the police know who did it because the have the killer's electronic monitor device route placing him the day of the murder at the exact place where my brother's body was found -he was found 5 days later- and where my brother's car was found totally incinerated; they deemed it "circumstantial evidence" and he's out on parole for other crimes and never charged with my brother's homicide.. Ok, here is my two cents - (I'm a tad late to this party ) I think he intended to sexually assault her. I think his behavior the night before and the fact that she did not feel safe being around him clearly demonstrates that. She probably thought his behavior was just due to him being intoxicated. The fact that he called her back to the house with the excuse of giving her a t-shirt is highly suspicious. I think he lured her out and he planned to assault her. I think she fought back and he killed her. The level of violence and the fact that he was so vicious indicate that he was extremely angry with her. It demonstrates intense rage. To someone who is unstable (and let's face it - kind of a loser) that rejection would likely set him off, not to mention the fact that in his head he probably had a very unrealistic idea of how this assault was going to go down. If he pulled out a knife, he probably thought she would just give up. I think she fought him and he wasn't expecting that. That's my theory. It makes sense to me. Obviously I don't know what actually happened, only he knows what happened. I do believe that his remorse after is somewhat genuine, I don't think he intended to necessarily kill her but he definitely lured her back to the house with nefarious intentions. Just my two cents. Do I believe sleep walking murders can happen? I suppose anything is possible, however the probability of this happening is sooo small that it would be a one in a million freak type situation. Based on the timeline, the description of what happened and his behavior in general before and after he killed her - I don't believe that he doesn't remember killing her. I think that's his way of coping with his situation because he was too ashamed to openly admit what he did to his friend. I think he used the "I don't remember" excuse so he wouldn't have to actually explain his behavior or describe what actually happened. Ok - I know that was a lot. Sorry - I had a lot to say about this. It's infuriating that he did what he did and he tried to say he was asleep when he did it. Come on now... He is exactly where he belongs.

i thought the same thing….how convenient the last thing he remembers is hugging her and her leaving the room. that’s just the last thing he’s willing to tell. i would guess he tried to make a move on her/convince her to stay and not move away with her boyfriend. he knew it was his last chance to convince her as she was grabbing the last of her items. giving her this t-shirt was just an excuse to get her back in the house. she probably denied him again and as she was leaving the room he let his rage from being rejected take over, grabbed the knife on his bedside table & killed her. it’s all so obviously not sleepwalking.

Def feel like if he was naked in her closet there was the motive. He knew she was about to leave and he would lose his any surviving chance when Brooke left for NY to her boyfriend. I sleep walk once in a blue moon but never been on trial for a violent act nor do I have any criminal history. I fear my own safety like walking out into traffic than I do for others and no hungover I can't fall back asleep and start sleep walking in 5 mins. That's one of the most absurd things I've ever heard. I remember hearing about this before and watched a docu similar to yours that had ait of his interrogation in it. It's extremely clear he had a thing for Brooke and she even left to stay the night elsewhere the night before and had plans that didn't include this animal and that she was happy with her boyfriend. To me that's the motive. Remorse ? His remorse is bc he didn't get away with it not bc he did it. So no that didn't need included.
