People need to know that this community is so isolated from the rest of palm beach county. When you think of palm beach county- this definitely doesn’t fit the mold. Even the ‘worst hoods’ on the coastal areas of PBC are different than Belle Glade. Belle Glade is country hood- out in the middle of Florida (way west of the rest of the county), it’s surrounded by farms and sugar cane fields and it takes at least an hour on a two lane road to get there. Nothing over there except the people who live there.

To give people some background on this place. Most of these people are Haitian and work for the sugar farms mid state. I live near here and it’s not necessarily a dangerous area, I wouldn’t even call it a hood. It is just very poor with almost 100% immigrants. Very interesting area because it really does look like you are in Haiti of some poor areas of the Bahamas. There are multiple stores in Belle Glade so what are you looking to point out? And there are very well kept areas of Belle Glade and there are some nice homes, newly constructed housing, nice schools and new facilities for our youth that “someone” saw enough value and potential in the city to help fund the construction of. It breaks my heart to see all these ignorant comments especially by grown adults who are supposed be quote-on quote mature with fully developed brains. As a teenager (16) who currently reside in this city , my city to be reading false accusation hurts. Even though my city may not look like yours does not justify you speaking as if you’ve walk these streets and meet these people. I never once felt danger in my community , yea its a little bit of crime here in there but name a place where a crime hasn’t happened ? . Belle glade is mostly full with migrants who all have stories as to why there here, but one thing that’s always common is that there here for a better life. One thing I can tell is that these people work hard but the city mayor and chairman’s are a different story.
