Rumple could've saved himself by using the candle to have someone die instead of Baelfire (in Storybrooke), but Bae wouldn't let him do that (hypothetically).

Every time a Nealfire fan says Zelena killed Neal, I point them here. He killed himself. It was tragic but he made the choice. Also, Neal *knew* that Zelena wanted him to resurrect Rumple to use his power. He put the whole of the EF in danger and sold his father into slavery because *he* wanted to get back to Emma.

In addition to being based on the character Lumiere from the Disney film, it was also an allusion to the character Flicker from the graphic novel "The Ice King of Oz" by Eric Shanower. Additionally, both characters can only "wake up" if their candles are lit.

Neal has been my man on this show,ever since I realized he's Baelfire and also Henry's dad💔and in this episode he didn't disappoint me!people call it selfish all they want!but imagine by knowing everything that happened since the very beginning was only so he and Rumple can reunite and ended with separation in 3x11,of course it wouldn't be enough for Neal to have his dad only for a few months which weren't even family moments💔of course he would try to have his father again in order to make it up for all those lost times!by knowing what was the price,Rumple coming back to life but by knowing his son gave his life so he can come back,it's not fair😭😭😭
