Thank you so much for this pristine non-REMASTERED post! Disintegration sets off rich but muted fireworks in my head. From Metallica's 1st 3 albums, all the way to David Sylvian, this is the by far the album I played most as a teen, and still enjoy to this day as a crusty 51-year old. It feels like a story, a journey, a soundtrack for all seasons and a mood enhancer all in one.

I became a woman to this album. I wish I could live inside of disintegration. I haven’t used a headset in a while, but intend to get a good pair. Lay on my bed and crank it up.

My fave Cure Album.. Loved it from the first play.. and I had a decent stereo at the time with some really good speakers.. I used to work nights so could crank it up during the day when the neighbours were out, and the bass is so rich and deep I can say this album, above all my other records, is responsible for breaking more stuff in my house than any other. As I write this I can see the plaster bust my dad made, missing her nose because she vibrated off a shelf.

This album is SO worth multiple listens, my friend. For me it became a yardstick for a flawlessly cohesive and self-complimentary album. It set the stage perfectly for my introduction to its polar opposite: Mr Bungle's debut self-titled album.

@@honkyvanwildebeest8926 Thank you for the suggestions! What do you think of the cure's latest album?
@honkyvanwildebeest8926Ай бұрын
@@celestialelixir3995 I haven't yet listened to "Songs of a Lost World" except for Endsong. That one song I've heard comes across to me to be leaning very much towards their "Disintegration" sound/feel. I've only heard the live version of "Endsong" but it gives me vibes of a re-visitation and a mature reflection on the sense of resignation or "life is what it is" that "Disintegration" had, without trying to make the same record again. Of course, I'm probably just projecting what this music means to me, regardless of The Cure's actual intentions.
@celestialelixir3995Ай бұрын
@@honkyvanwildebeest8926 I had read that from other seasoned listeners of The Cure's records and as a newcomer, I can hear that connection too. I think Endsong was the track that resonated with me aswell after I had also seen the live version performed on the BBC and subsequently the band's very own livestream of their three hour concert. I hope they release that on Blu-ray because I preferred the live version over the studio. Not having seen any previous live performances of theirs, I don't have anything to compare this latest gig to but it seemed to me that all of them were on top form!

Thanks for the upload!! A friend tried to introduce me to this album when I was 17--I fell in love with Plainsong and Pictures but the others never grabbed me. I listened to their latest release played live on the Tubes a month or so ago, and it was incredible. They essentially did a 3 hour career retrospective, starting off with Plainsong and Pictures after they finished the playthrough of Songs from a lost World. Just finished revisiting 10 Years The Autumn Effect, and this was in the algorithm suggestions. So glad I'm giving it another shot! I'm definitely becoming a fan.
