That is some orange, you will never have to worry about someone else having the same color. I have the 1st edition in green(top) black(bottom) and I like the changes they made in version 2. It is probably my best built overall work/travel bag. I can get 4 days worth of clothes in it easy. The charm of this bag for me is that they do the same thing Tom Bihn does with the synapse/synik line, bellroy cut and assembled the bag to somehow fall in on itself when empty so its not in the way but can fill up when you need to pack it up.

What's the difference between the 2nd edition and the first one? I just purchased one from a retailer and I have no idea if it's the latest version or the old version.
@mnmartin732 жыл бұрын
I think Bellroy did a great job with this upgrade. My complaint is the leather tag in the front. If you have the original versions you will notice that the stitching of the leather tag goes around the corners in a C shape or half square shape. Then they have changed it in the newer versions to just a one vertical line of stitching in the left and right side of the leather tag. You will say oh well who cares. But my daughter has the classic backpack which they did the same way and with using it a little rough the leather tag came undone. Bellroy did offered a replacement for the backpack but I denied because it's a design flaw, it is going to get undone again. Since I'm handy sewing I stitched it myself adding the additional stitches around the corner like in the original version and they have maintained. In the Classic Back one can sew it but in this model backpack plus if the tag comes undone over time you are screwed as that is not possible to fix. You will be able to get a replacement but after warranty expires that's it.

someone sold it 75 Cad from Marketplace. I was at his front door within the hour and bought the bag he barely used. What a steal, I think this bag will last a very very very long time. This is perfectly paired with my PD tech kit as they are both made of the same material and zipper(laptop sleeve).

Hello Dave, Thanks very much for the video mate! I just wanted to point that the Bellroy Backpack Plus is 22 liters not 24... Otherwise, I was looking for a comparison between the 1st edition and the 2nd edition of this backpack; and your video was pretty informative regarding this 2nd edition (even though I would have appreciated a side to side comparison between the 2 editions...) but then again I do appreciate the video, so thanks! How does this compare with the black ember shadow 26l in terms of size?
@DaveSam133 жыл бұрын
This is slightly smaller but it also has more open space. The Shadow forces you to use it’s pockets and system so you have to adapt. That’s the hardest part about choosing it over a more common style than the Classic Backpack to me. That being said, the Shadow is a fantastic bag and one of my all time favorites

I think this would be a perfect work bag upgrade from my fjallraven vardag, been using it quite long but it's suffering from a wear and tear now at the bottom..and I do kind of wish there would be more pockets but then I'm also worried the pockets would be too small for my stuffs. Do you think the front pocket is deep and safe enough to put my wallet in? 🤔

@DaveSam133 жыл бұрын
I think it depends on how much camera gear you have honestly. The citadel r2, the Prima system, and the Prvke all meet those requirements with different ratios of gear to work to clothes. The Prima in particular is one of my all time favorite bags in that category.
@Scary_Brownie3 жыл бұрын
@@DaveSam13 Yeah i have looked at them but I like how everything in the peter mckinnon monster bag is like got a more sleek design. Dumb reason I know. Also for like day to day stuff it would probably be my body 1-2 extra lenses and maybe an extra battery or two. If I am feeling really spicy a tripod. For gym it would be the standard fair of shorts and a tee and if I had to be dressed up that day maybe a pair of shoes. you know the more I type the more I realize this is a crazy amount of demands from a backpack.

just wondering if you knew what the difference between this and the transit workpack, it seems like besides the exterior design, the compartments and build quality is pretty much the same but this one is $20 cheaper, I wonder why
@DaveSam133 жыл бұрын
Hmm the major difference would be in function. Because of the clamshell opening of the work pack I think it’s meant more for that 1-2 day traveler. The classic backpack is definitely more for school or work daily carry. Hope that helps!

I’m struggling between this bag and a Fjallraven Ulvo 30 I just received. The Ulvo is beautiful but the laptop sleeve is a little tight for my 16” MBP, but it has external water bottle storage. I really love the look and function of this Bellroy but I’m concerned about storing a water bottle inside the bag. How do you get on with that style of carry? Do you have any issues with throwing a water bottle in a bag like this when your laptop is in there too? Just curious what your thoughts are. I’m in the market for a 22-30 liter backpack with safe laptop transportation (suspended, padded sleeve) and made from recycled materials.
@DaveSam133 жыл бұрын
I may not be the right person to ask as I'm not generally a fan of ay of the Fjallraven bags but I'll give you my opinion. I also prefer a water bottle pocket on the outside of my bags but I've been using a few bags lately that don't have that feature. I do really like the aesthetic and symmetry with my water bottle on the inside but I don't like having to zip it open and closed to get to my water. As far as separation, I think you'll be totally fine. I've had no issues with water touching my laptop with this bag or even a few others in this same category (GR1, CPL). Both of those are also good alternatives if you're in the market but pricer
@keesdehaas75753 жыл бұрын
I actually have both of these bags. Pros for the Ulvo: waterbottle pocket, but for me not a problem to put it in the Bellroy’s main compartment. Just buy a trustworthy bottle like the Camelbak Chute Mag. No more fear of leaking on my tech! Second pro for Ulvo is the fabric. That Bergshell is so soft and comfortable to the touch while the Bellroy is is more rugged but also feels more plasticky and wrinkly. But for me the biggest downside of the Ulvo is the way it pulls back on your shoulders with heavier loads like a laptop. The Bellroy wears much more comfortably because of how the back panel is structured and curves more around your upperback and shoulders. The internal lining and compartments of the Bellroy also feel much better than the Ulvo’s. The laptop compartment is a lot better as well. The Ulvo’s internals feel more cheaply made and I don’t really like the ice white color in there. So all in all I like the Bellroy better and the color (bronze) looks really awesome as well in comparison to the standard black of my Ulvo. Still, I bought the Ulvo because I really liked that one as well, with a few flaws, it still remains a fantastic bag! Hope this helps your puchasing decision! Cheers!

What a great video!, hey man I was actually wondering if the inside pocket of the main compartment could fit a 12.9” IPad Pro and also wanted to know if that same pocket has some sort of a false bottom to protect the gear that we decide to put in there?
@DaveSam133 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I think you could for sure. You may need to slip the top of it behind the tech compartment at the top though. There isn’t a false bottom but it does get tighter along the bottom so the iPad may “catch” before the ground. Hope that helps!

@DaveSam133 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! I’m glad you found it helpful. I have a fairly similar set up for my daily carry an occasional needs and I would say all of them would meet the overall need. That being said, there are a few differences; 1) the bellroy bags are more stylish and in some cases use more premium materials like leather (TB also uses top notch materials but more in the nylons and zippers not the accents) and 2) Tom Bihn bags will last a lifetime and they back that up with the warranty. Bellroy offers a 3 years warranty. So depending on how hard you want to use the bag this may be a factor. I hope that helps you make your decision!

I had to return this backpack just after receiving it. it's a struggle getting my 16" laptop in and out of the laptop compartment which is just too narrow. Once the laptop is inside, the tablet/ document holder in the main compartment becomes practically unusable as it gets too tight, I couldn't even slide my phone all the way inside. Also, no separate space for water bottle. What's the point of a $200 backpack if I have to make so many compromises. The only thing this backpack has going for it are the materials, the front pocket and the style. If anyone's looking for functionality, better look elsewhere.
