Seeing this, I think a comparison between the Via Workpack and the Tokyo Totepack would be welcome (and the upcoming Alpaka Tech Brief Pro). The System Messenger, Tokyo Work Bag, and Via Work Bag are all very similar too. So many parallel product lines in Bellroy.

the Alpaka seems to be more a category of it own. more like a laptop sleeve/backpack. this seems more like a Tote/Backpack

Would the Bellroy Cooler Caddy fit in this pack? I use their caddy as my everyday lunch box and am looking to pair it with a streamlined work bag.

I like the concept but those handles sticking out when it’s on the bag looks a bit odd. Solid review

I was very interested in this bag, mainly because of the smart casual look and feel. But after seeing this, I'm not confident that it can fit my use case. I will definitely need to have a hands on first at a local stockist before deciding whether to buy this backpack or not.

for the price I wish Bellroy did better padding on the backpacks and other bags

The front pocket, with the way the fabric stands up and the zip lower down (does that make sense?) It looks like it would catch the rain?

It would. Bellroy is Australian. They’re designs show it in litter quirks like this. TimBuk2 is SF based, which sees more rain, and is cycling inspired. Some of their bags include rain covers, with reflective panels, and pockets to store them. But the bag itself is also made from water-resistant materials from the start.

@@dylanbystedtyou know it rains more in parts of Australia than in the UK right?

Has anyone tried a standard Nalgene bottle in the water bottle compartment of the Bellroy Via Workpack? Would it fit? Pack Hacker, could you test this out please? Thanks!

No tuck away shoulder straps??

That zipper configuration would annoy me so much. Seems like it defeats the purpose of having two zippers in the first place, which is to promote full, open and easy access to the main compartment.

It's the same as on the Venture slings and it works very well. One zipper to open for excellent access

you can open all the way, either way - same on their slings

I’ve yet to see any review explicitly call out Bellroy for *always* being bad at organization. The Venture line has started to add proper organization. But usable pockets shouldn’t be exclusive to a single, premium product line. That front pocket is a joke.

The classic weekender line really blew me away with all the organization (i have both the weekender and weekender plus for that reason), but in their backpacks I agree. Far too minimalist/streamlined/ whatever the buzzword of the moment is. I don't know if it's a secret ploy so you have to buy their pouches, but I've never been tempted to buy one of their backpacks for that reason. Lack of external water bottle pockets is usually my most obvious deal breaker but one little mesh pocket doesn't cut it for me.

This front pocket aside I generally think they're one of the better brands for pocketing which is why they're not called out. Why would you need more pockets than that in the front pocket, you wouldn't be able to access it. Not everyone wants an Aer style admin panel. I own about 5 Bellroy bags (three ventures) and the reason is largely because of the organisation and access. I don't think it's exclusive to the Venture line, the Transit line is similar.
